I genuinely believe CMS will play alongside Ulloa, as long as he's retained his pace. I expect that he will then score goals at the rate we expected him to when we signed him. He is not a hold-up player, and should not therefore be expected to demonstrate the skills of such a player. Get the ball to him quickly for him to run onto and he will do well. Good poacher too. In fact, Ulloa and CMS could be lethal.

On the sort of same lines, I do think the club are playing a dangerous game with the fans...23,000 odd of us commit our hard earnt money every month. We all know Poyet over spent and it needed to be reeled in to some extent and we all understand that. But plying us with loans and freebies does take the piss a tad....You don't bite the hand that feeds you...Think we would all like to see a few quid being spent, especially if we get £4m for Bridcutt in the next few weeks.

MASSIVELY AGREE with you on that Kev. On the TV the other day the pundits were saying what a fantastic turnout it was at the Liberty Stadium with 20k fans in attendance. Hang on a moment, surely something is a miss if we're averaging almost 8k per game more, and probably charging more the pleasure. Loaning everyone elses cast offs will soon become tedious and my fear is that people will lose interest if there is an apparent lack of ambition.

Let's just wait and see if we spend before the end of this window before jumping to conclusions. I agree that the club need to spend to replace Barnes. The difference between you and me is that I think they will.

I agree with KTR on this, On his day CMS is a far more prolific striker than Barnes!
The problem with CMS is he did'nt adapt to or suit Poyets style of play, He did do a very good job however given this.
Imagine him (if he is the same player after injury) playing the way we do now... hopefully alongside Leo

If you're hanging your hat on CMS making a meaningful contribution to our season, prepare to be disappointed. Even if he hasn't lose some pace it would be unreasonable to expect him to be match fit for at least a couple of months and traditionally long term injured players pick up niggly injuries for a couple of months after they start playing again.

Nope, we need a new forward who slots in quickly with our style if we are to stand any chance of equalling or bettering last season's form from January to the end of the season.

So your judging our transfer window on activity over the past week and just 10 days into the window ?? I would suggest the negativity should wait until business has been concluded, I supsect a lot of people are going to have egg on face.

I also have a sneaking suspicion Obika will give us something Barnes didn't, which is a higher conversion rate in front of goal.... pivotal if we have realistic ambitions of making the play offs.

In Bloom / Barber and Oscar I trust.

My opinion is inclusive of our summer business too, which amounted to splashing out Chicksen and getting a few loan players and freebies. Hardly mouth watering is it.
As for egg on the face it's worth noting that if we do actually spend some money and buy a quality player I'll be over the moon, it's not like I'll be embarrased because the club are showing ambition.
Regarding Obika, and as with any player we get in I desperately hope he's a success, but looking at his poor track record it looks like he more likely to follow in the foot steps of Vokes and Paynter.

Don't think it's fair to put those two together, even then it was obvious Vokes was a WAYY better player than Paynter.

I really hope they will, but I'm not pinning my hopes on it.

Bridcutt, Barnes, PIG, Chicksen, Upson and Ince cost £250k between them and all have delivered or whetted the appetite.

Cost and value are not the same

Playing us with loans and freebies? Conway was a great loan, Ince was a freebee as is Andrews. Oscar has had 5 months to assess the squad, I now expect to see some cheap signings guided by him to fill any gaps. And our most expensive signing, CMS, has been a massive disappointment.

I for one love CMS and really hope that he comes back good and plays better for Oscar.

I can see that we need to look no further for Ash's replacement for the boo boys by some of the posts on here.

My only nagging concern was a source who worked closely with Gus, Tanno and Charlie and said to me recently that Gus had lost belief in Macca and they didn't think he was good enough....

Genuine question...Has Cms been a massive disappointment. Or has he simply been played out of position and asked to do a job alien to him, then suffered a crisis of confidence because of it???...I personally still think there is a player there, christ knows a lot of good judges were after him. I suppose the truth is the jury is out and we won't really know until he is up and running again. I'm sure he will be chomping at the bit to get going again.
