Ban all religion from any kind of state recognition.

If people want to choose to believe different things ( no matter how unrealistic and outdated) and live their lives by them, then thats fine.

However IMO it's a choice like any hobby or a past time and nothing more.

hey fellow Albion fans there is no need to be offensive and use abusive language is there ! im allowed to air my views the same as the next person , Religion is a man made word its nothing to do with Christianity , i could religiously wash my car every-week , in fact Jesus is quoted as disliking the word " religion " because it separates people , many faiths are religious in like they feel they need to do something or wear something to be qualified , the church of England and Catholic churches are very much like this in fact Catholic churches say the only way to God is through the Pope ie confession , the Pope is also never mentioned in the Bible , Jesus said all we need to do is believe and come as we are with all our baggage , nothing religious there .

Well how do you expect me to feel when two days ago I splashed out on a purple hat and a big cross necklace (neckless!). And what has my wife got me for Christmas? Yeah you`ve guessed it, a bloody smoking teapot!

Some of us are a bit (i.e. a lot) more accepting than that. We are not all the same.

And the original poster, in talking about God's plans for us, seems to be ignoring the concept of free will, and he also seems to be a creationist, so I would think that I, as a Christian, have very little in common with him. Please don't tar us all with the same brush. It gets a bit wearing.

How can you be a Christian and not a Creationist, just curious like?

Quite frankly, I couldn't give a toss - both religion and Christianity are for weak minded tossers.

I'll have the teapot from you, have you tried rubbing it in case a genie pops out?

by the way im not preaching im responding to thread " Nice to see the church living in the real world ........ " but wanted to start a new one so it was fresh .

... whatever worldly vote or campaign that the world comes up with to try and guide us away from the truth will fail , no one can change what God wants in his plans for us , its only us that can ignore it ...
OK, I'll bite. And I'll comment to the effect that this is seriously dodgy theology and hardly a universal belief within Christianity. Are the concepts of personal responsibility (and, where appropriate, collective responsibility) alien to Christian thought? Or does your God always negate the consequences of human action? If so, it's a belief that seems to deny the essence of humanity and makes the struggle to lead a good life rather pointless.

Lots of angry, militant atheists seem to frequent NSC.

I challenge any of you to name just one way that Christianity damages our society in the UK?

There is obviously a lot of good it does for communities and individuals.

Noise pollution, those bloody bells on a Sunday when I`ve got a stinking hangover, Disgraceful.

In a pile of football shirts
Have you ever thought about your soul - can it be saved?
Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave
Is God just a thought within your head or is He a part of you?
Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?

When you think about death do you lose your breath
Or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope
Do you think he's a fool?
Well I have seen the truth, yes I've seen the light
And I've changed my ways
And I'll be prepared when you're lonely and scared
At the end of our days

Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believe in God above?
They should realize before they criticize
That God is the only way to love

Is your mind so small that you have to fall
In with the pack wherever they run
Will you still sneer when death is near
And say they may as well worship the sun?

I think it was true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced
Will you be so sure when your day is near, say you don't believe?
You had the chance but you turned it down, now you can't retrieve

Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate
Or will you still jeer at all you hear?
Yes! I think it's too late.

Friends lets not confuse Christianity with religion . Christianity is not wearing a purple hat and a big cross neckless , or waving a smoking teapot around or a stick with a bent end that would be used better rounding sheep . For me its about accepting Jesus died for our sins to set us free and are resurrected with him spiritually until we will be with him in heaven for eternity . Don't get sucked in with the worldly media saying the church is in crisis because women didn't get the vote to become bishops , vicars etc are man made things and are not mentioned in the bible , whatever worldly vote or campaign that the world comes up with to try and guide us away from the truth will fail , no one can change what God wants in his plans for us , its only us that can ignore it , there are fantastic women councilors and prayer teams and small group hosts within the church so women have a massive role in Gods plan , in the beginning God made Adam to rule the earth then gave him Eve as a loyal companion . There are no rules here just the truth , you can read it for yourselves . Love to you all

I follow the religion of ancient Olympus. Zeus is my god, although I prefer Aphrodite, certainly artiemis had her moments.

My gods are just as relevant as your god, jahweh.

Christianity itself is another man made construction, an invention to make a group of people feel better about themselves. why is one branch of christianity right and another wrong? why is christianity right and other religions wrong? its all make belief, and we have far more interesting things to do in the modern age than worry about what some mythical sky daddy will do and far more interesting questions and answers about the world than provided by 2000 year old folk stories.
