According to the exit polling, the main issues for American voters turned out to be democracy and abortion rights. Both of which are areas where the Republicans are seen as a party which is on the wrong side of history. The predictions beforehand were that it would be about the economy, which would be tough for Biden as the incumbent at a time of economic turmoil.

It's all relative. Trump asked his republican colleagues to lie about the election result, and subvert the course of democracy. Coupled with the storming of the capital, that is the most anti-democracy we've seen from either party pretty much ever.
The plan to lie about the election results could have. Had governors reported the wrong election results, the overall result could have changed. Not that it matters how likely it was to succeed, the fact is he tried.
And anyone trying to cause a BLM riot would be prosecuted, as Trump should be.

I think in the Committee referring Trump to the DoJ it will galvanise his campaign support for the 2024 Presidency even further which may be the price to pay for trying to bring him to justice. Trump will no doubt challenge all counts right up to SCOTUS to drag it out until the beginning of the 2024 election period.
Trump remains the focus albeit a symptomatic one of a deeply divided nation - the 2024 elections threaten to be even more divisive that those of 2020.
