Seeing as they we our age old emblem of the club, perhaps you would like to take some time signing this petition (whether it works or not).

It is a petition against the brutal slaughter of these truly great creatures.

Warning: This video is not for the faint hearted :( http://www.glumbert.com/media/dolphin

Interesting video.

I don't wish to be controversial but what's the difference between a group of dolphins being rounded up and slaughtered for food, and your common herd of cattle, pigs or sheep being rounded up and taken to an abattoir for slaughtering. I don't see any.

I'm sure if that was a video of said farm animals, there wouldn't be such an outcry especially if you're tucking into a sausage or bacon sarnie whilst watching.

It's not the fact that the dolphins are being killed, it's the way they are being killed.

Having lived and worked in Japan, I would almost say that this has been going on for perhaps a few centuries now, which is why it's not shocking for them as they've been brought up with it.

I am not normally one to meddle in a country's way of life, but I find this particularly shocking. I realise this practice has gone on for hundreds of years, but I think we have progressed far enough to realise that these highly intelligent mammals should not be slaughtered. Animal rights are much higher on the agenda here than the far east and I see what you are saying about it not having a shock factor in Japan itself.

I meant to edit a reply to this bit, but it says my 5 minute bracket has expired! ???

Anyway - as far as cattle/pigs/sheep are concerned, they are bred for meat and the vast majority of slaughterhouses kill them in a 'humane way'. Whereas these highly intelligent mammals are rounded up by force and dragged behind trucks or left to suffocate in the back of a van. I don't believe we should meddle with the oceans eco-system. We are losing mammals at an alarming rate with our over fishing and just I don't agree with the slaughter of Dolphins.
