We aren't very big are we.

I thought West Ham towered over us with some very solid looking players, and bossed us accordingly.
I really got that impression today, there was so 'big ol' units' playing and none of them were ours.

Yeah it matters. Not if they are just big and immobile - but if they can run, pass, head and lean people off the ball - it matters.

I dont think it does depending on the quality, but thought Southampton looked more like rugby players.

I would take our 'fat' Ricky over any of your lot.

As for answering the question, in this League it definitely helps. We don't really have too much pace in our first team. Chaplow is willing to bomb up and day all long and De Ridder off the bench is very quick. So without pace we rely on our passing and strength..... and it is working so far.

It's a different game to twenty years ago. Modern day players are big powerful athletes who can run 100 metres in eleven seconds coupled with great technique. Unfortunately a number of our players cannot cope with the demands of this league.

Any thoughts on a Forward's Coach??

I know it's an extra (financial) resource but maybe it could help our plethora of strikers who are plainly not on song at the moment.

Granted Gus was an "attacking" midfielder so knows a bit about scoring, but Tanno is a defender and Charlie was a holding player. We have Tony G as a goalkeeping coach, so why no forwards coach? If you look at Joe Jordan, Les Ferdinand and Clive Allen at Spurs, Platty at Man City and Di Matteo at Chelski it seems to work (admittedly different league with more resources.)

Just wondered if it you think it would work????

It's probably just me, but in observing just how big and powerful they were today I even thought that wanker Hammond looked liked he's bulked up too.

Yes,we have always been a small team,if we want to get to a higher level then we will require taller stronger players-for now despite current results, when we find our confidence again,we can compete to some degree.
