It must be remembered that we already had Navarro and still Gus brought in Arismendi on loan to be replaced by Kishishev and Battipedi so he must have some concern about this position and Navarros ability to occupy it.

I think that Kish and Nav will be let go now that Gus has said he is looking to bring in more quality players to strengthen the side especially as Tony wants us to be challenging in the top 6 of the Championship.

Hardly, from what I understand that loan was with a view to purchasing him or extending the loan for a season, batti was here as company for Baz and Kish was brought in to offer competition, but do carry on.

So he wanted to first loan him then buy him knowing we didnt need another midfielder, rather strange would you not think.

Have you not seen some of the things Gus says about Navarro and why Bridcutt was brought in? Just because he got in some competition does not in any way mean he didn't/does not rate him

Has Gus brought in competition for Calderon or Painter? No he was happy that they could do the job he required. Perhaps in the midfield stakes he wasn t entirely convinced but none the less all will be revealed soon and I expect Navarro to get a short term contract to prove his fitness and return to strength.

I think your brain is starting to go, so you honestly think that only players without cover are upto the standards of Gus, so thus pretty much every position is not upto his standard except the full backs, but then why have we been trialing them all season? If you read what Gus says about why Bridcutt was brought in, it was because of the navarro injury, implying he was otherwise happy with him as the primary center mid?

Gus is always looking for perfection and improving the team. I think that he brought in Kishishev because he wasnt convinced that Dicker and Navarro would solve the problem in center midfield. Navarro was injured so he needed another central midfielder hence he signed Bridcutt. Bridcutt has progressed as Gus thought that he would so much so that he has signed him on another 2 year deal along with Dicker and to me that indicates that despite what he has said in the past he has doubts about Navarro, either his ability or him getting back to full fitness at our level.

I think that he will offer Navarro a 3 or 6 month deal to give him the chance to prove his fitness and ability in the championship, without guaranteeing him a start each week as first choice. Gus has also said he wants about 6 or 7 players so what positions could they be, at least 1 must be a central midfielder.

Would be happy to have Bridcutt and Navaro as our two defensive midfield players next season, but also think Kish should be kept on as his experience and versatility could be useful.

I think we need to keep our memories tuned in to the Southampton game - plus maybe Dagenham and Oldham and a few others where our midfield was overrun at times and we allowed the opposition to come on to us much too freely. We need more experience and more quality on the ball to stop that from happening next season.

We have an embarrassment of riches with our three current holding midfielders, who are all exceptional and all would of walked into any other teams over the past twenty years. Unfortunately we only need 2 out of 3. Our budget needs to be spent wisely across other positions.

In my opinion I would take Kish above Navarro. I must confess to having a large degree of man love for Kish, he is one of my favourite players of recent times and I love watching him play. Another factor is Navarro's injury record which doesn't bode well for the future.

I think it spells the end of Kish IMO. I think he will retire at the end of the season. Why am I the only person it seems that thought Navarro had a blinder on Monday. He really ran our midfield and found some decent passes out wide.

I thought that too, considering his lack of match fitness I thought he put in a very solid performance, you know NSC though, we are not allowed to complement him under and circumstance.

As (I think) you pointed out to me on this very site. Navarro was considerably better than Dicker for one on saturday. IF he returns to full fitness in pre-season (and there's nothing to suggest he won't) I think he will be given a six month deal, renewed until the end of the season if he proves his worth again.

He's in the unfortunate situation of having to start to scratch. I personally thought our season was ruined when he got injured. I don't think anyone thought Bridcutt would have been as much as a success as he has been.

Mind your, if we sign a new defensive midfielder, will we need three DM's?

He had a good game on Monday, especially considering it was his first game for ages. However, I find it slightly ironic that you say NSC won't allow you to say good things about Navarro when you are one of the couple of people on here who persists with a vendetta against Barnes.

Also, even though I rate Navarro, there is no doubt in my mind that Bridcutt is a lot better player and will be first choice next season.

I'm surprised you lot thought Navs was good on Monday, I thought he was really average. He was losing the ball for us all over the place, and certainly didn't make the impression that Bridcutt usually does. I guess he isn't back to his best yet though.

Vendetta against Barnes? :wozza: because I'm one of a handful of people who acknowledges he isn't flawless?

No, as the post above says, everyone says he isn't flawless while you and a couple of others seem to have decided he is rubbish and will give him credit for nothing. All I am saying is it is ironic that you are complaining about people having a go at Navarro when you do far worst about Barnes.
