Hi,

Just about to move back to gods country and want to try something new.

Been looking into hang gliding, it looks awesome........does anyone on here do it regular or has learnt on a 5 day beginner course?

If so...would you be so kind to share your expiereinces. would you reccommend?

cheers.

Them parachute thingies are always cruising round off the top of the Dyke - sometimes 20 or so at a time.
A couple of thousand £ will get you the equipment, but take a tandem lesson or two first.
It looks as though the main danger now, is that there are too many in one place - so learning is important, then go find a less crowded area.

Also, a paraglider bloke told me the most serious hazard is being taken UP in a weather anomaly, where you have to induce a controlled stall in order to get out of it.

I Hang Glide regulary off The Dyke I usually circle Hangleton and then shout abusive comments on my way back over West Hove Golf Course ('your out of bounds' and 'I saw you drop that extra ball in the woods' things like that) Hangleton residents think I am a Pterodactyl Debt Collector and they scurry in to their council houses!!

Its great fun if only it were true!!!

I get to work right under the Dyke lot when they float about in the sky, think the most I counted was 31 all in the Sky at once! Its a beautiful sight when they are up there and as its so quiet you can hear them shouting to each other easily enough! I wanna do it one day as it looks cool.

Drive a tractor Marc, or are you a farmer?
There's not much under that lot except a hillside and a field. Then it's a farm with sheep fields.

theres a cricket ground there too

Is it safer than, say, going up in a glider (which is more dangerous than a helicopter ride)

After looking at both Paragliding and hang gliding, I must say Para looks more fun if not a little bit more dangerous.

Once I return to Sussex me and a mate are going to get trained up and hopefully get up in the skies overlooking sussex shortly!

I cant think of a better way to view the gorgeous open countryside of Sussex on a crisp spring morning.
