Eees complicated, despite our marvellous unbeaten run at home, our nothing goals conceded, away wins etc, I am still nervous,it's not well founded at all, perhaps put it down to following since the year dot, I will never be happy umtil mid April when nobody can touch us. I'm sure we'll do it baring injuries form/suspensions etc, so come on thr Boys !

It's funny. It's so easy looking from the outside in. Last season, no one at this point were in any doubt that Norwich would piss the league. Ask any other supporter from another league 1 team and they'll tell you we've gone, the league's ours.

Due to it being my team, I'm still not 100% sure we won't bollocks it up.

Come on guys , this is the Albion we are talking about. Over 40 years of supporting them , I`ve lost count of the number of times I`ve been let down. So Yes, its normal and quite sensible to be worried. That said , the moment when Bridcutts winner went in last Saturday I started to think we will do it. After Brentford it would take a catastropic colllapse ,which I really cannot see happening ,to stop us.

We football supporters are a superstitious lot and I don't want to be the one who jinxes our season so, until other teams are unable to catch us, I'll do what I have been doing since Sept 25-look at the League table in disbelief and say nothing.

It's better this way though, isn't it? As long as you're convinced we may well cock it right up, then the moment we actually do seal the title will be absolutely bloody brilliant...

If you were around for the Newcastle away fixture ? 1979, the FA Cup semi-final at Highbury in 1983, the Hereford away fixture or the play-off final at the Millenium stadium, you,ll know that dreams do come true when you support the Albion.......relax and savour every moment of this season.

For everyone one of those, I give you Man Utd '83, Notts Co '91, Grimsby '03 (bit of a stretch that last one - sodding Reading and their 'resting policy').

In '83 we finished 30 points behind Man U, and in '91 we finished 10 points behind Notts C, so we were not favourites for either of those two. The only big let down I can remember was 69-70 when we were top with four or five games left and finished 5th.

What i mean is the mentality of years watching the albion and thinking something bad is gonna happen.

I look at the table and think 'thats nice were 7 points ahead with games in hand' but what my heart is saying is 'but what if we lose those games in hand, go on a bad run and come 3rd-losing in the play off semis !'.

I dont think the above will happen but i suppose its habitual.

It only takes one of the teams below us to get a last minute draw in a game and im left staring at the league tables for the next 2 hours fretting.

Perhaps i need to :smokin:

Oh yes. Totally agree. People talk to me at work as though we're already promoted. I can't stand that kind of chicken counting it just worries me.

Take it one game at a time, right now I'm confident we are on our way.

For individual games I agree with you. When we played Peterborough at home and they scored it took until about the third minute of injury time before I was able to say "Actually I think this is safe now" and we WILL drop points between now and the end of the season. In fact we could have our first home defeat today as Tranmere are so much the underdog and freak one-off results can and do happen.

But the odd defeat aside, taking the remaining games as a group - there's no way we'll screw it up. If the bookies had us at evens to get promoted and were saying "Well they're walking the league at the moment but they're Brighton so let's not get carried away" I might be concerned. But they're looking at it dispassionately and they can see there's no one to touch us.

I can't bring myself to believe it either. Down the pub everyone talks to me about how my team has won the league but I won't even admit we're close; saying things like "there's a way to go yet".

Is this something that gets worse as you get older? I am sure I didn't feel like this when we finished second behind Villa in 1972, or even when I was on the terraces at St James Park in 1979.

It's just all those years when you get all excited about what you hope will happen with the Albion, and then back down to earth with a big bump!

Just conditioning that's built into us. We want to be positive and for everything to be brilliant, we always have, and this year is probably the first for many a year when we really have a great opportunity. But history has warned us not to get too excited, so let's just be "cautiously optimistic".

In Gus we trust!

It ain't over 'til the fat lady (Lambert) sings (crys about his team failing to make the automatic places and losing to Orient in the play offs)...
