Does anybody know why this kid is wearing an Albion shirt?

Is this still true with our category 1 academy?
Perhaps we can sell this kid for 90m and be in profit with the cat 1 academy :D

It looks like the U-17s will be heading straight out again, to Denmark, for the "Scandic Cup" at Lyngby Boldklub. Hopefully they will have better results than last year; the U-17s and U-19s had a combined 1 draw and 7 defeats in their 8 matches.

Albion U-17s won their opening match in the Scandic Cup today 4-3 against HB Koge.

They play their second match tomorrow.

For the record, Albion U-17s lost their next two group matches in the Scandic Cup. They also lost the play-off against the team that finished 3rd in the other group, meaning they finished 6th out of 8 teams.

Luis Garcia Is really starting to intrigue me. Two days ago he re-tweets a tweet from Mark Anderson, who is our Academy Player Recruitment Manager, today he tweets match day versus Aston Villa. The location of the first tweet was Las Palmas and the second, the slightly less exotic Sompting.

Is he a full timer with the Academy, who gets time off to visit home, or is he coming over just for matches ?

I heard he was only on trial in the summer. Whether today's game is another trial or he's now signed, I don't know.

Apparently this lad played brilliantly yesterday as the youngsters beat Chelsea 2-1.

Are you talking about the U-18s? Because according to the report on the official website, he didn't play.

Where did you see or hear this?

ALBION: Hobbs (GK); Courtney, White, Horncastle, Barnett (Cox 76); Collar, Hutchinson, Tighe, Pring (Rowe-Hurst 37), Maguire-Drew, Tilley (Meyers 87). Sub not used: Mar-Larusson.

No Garcia.

The keeper Hobbs gets a lot of plaudits in that report. First time I've heard the name. We must have a heap of young keepers now?

Walton, the Ireland u19 lad, the one from Charlton and Hobbs. Any chance of a quick round up of how old they each are, and any details, please AZ Gull ?

I think this is correct.

Thanks BigGully

So, in terms of keepers coming through, we have:

Christian Walton - still only 18. Capped by England up to U20 level.

Josh Smith - also 18? - signed after being released by Charlton, to replace Walton, when he moved up to the first team squad (although Walton plays for the U21s tonight).

Harry Doherty - 18? - current Republic of Ireland U10 international - signed via Jon Morland connections.

George Hobbs - playing up from the U16 squad in the U18s and producing a fine display to keep out Chelsea.
AZ Gull - and meat you can put on these bones?

Isn"t Doherty a little old for the under 10s?

Luis Garcia scored his first goal for the U-18s against Norwich on Saturday - UNDER-18S EDGED OUT BY NORWICH

The under-18 coach praised the quality shown in the build-up to Garcia’s strike and believes the squad have made some good progress these past couple of weeks.

"The goal was a good bit of combination play between Luis and Archie Davies on the edge of the box. Luis got the ball from Archie and finished well past the keeper."

And, whilst another defeat for the U-18s was disappointing, it appears they played pretty well. From the Norwich City report of the match - REPORT: BRIGHTON 1-3 U18s

However, [Graeme] Murty [U-18s coach] felt the visitors could have performed better in the Barclays Under-18s Premier League contest, and told canaries.co.uk: "The scoreline flattered us because we played well in flashes but Brighton were the better team.
