I've heard that there are around 20 million "dodgy" firesticks being used in the UK , equating to roughly one in three of the population.

Apologies so it’s 5 groups……
The Vat Man
The Coroner
The Gas Man
The Fire Brigade
and the good old HSE.

Yet still the Rozzers need a piece of paper 😂
In "Can't pay, we'll take it away" Bailiffs can't force entry to residential properties, but once in, you cannot make them leave. If you do, they call the OB and you will get done for obstructing a Bailiff.

I believe they ARE permitted to force entry to commercial properties - but I think they must obtain a warrant beforehand. Is the High-Court writ the warrant? I'm sure @happypig will know.

Re Gas Man - I very long time ago (circa late '70s) my GF's B-I-L worked in BG? disconnections and went around in an unmarked van with a locksmith. He had some interesting stories to tell ....

You give me too much credit, I was a lowly magistrate and signed police search warrants for things like drugs and guns and utility warrants for the gas/electric to force entry.
I'm afraid I know little of how High Court baliffs operate.

Nothing dodgy about a Firestick, its what some apps some people install on them ...

Bit like calling all cars dodgy just because some people put on "illegal" number plates.

Anyway, hands up everyone whose ever watched a pirate video (DVD / VHS) at some point back in the day? Same thing = copyright theft.
Its the suppliers they want to stop, the consumers are small fry and many ...

I have two Firesticks, one bought from Amazon, the other from Argos - might they be in trouble for selling dodgy gear?

HSE inspectors with a warrant card can walk into any work location and go wherever they wish, without a warrant. They just need suspicion (not evidence, suspicion) of an imminent risk to safety. I work in theatre and have had this exact thing happen based on a tip off of unsafe working at height, and they were refused backstage access. They called the police and an officer came and arrested the guy who stopped them going backstage for obstructing an HSE officer in the course of his duties, and the employee was later sacked for this.

I pay £48.75 a month for TNT Sports and SKy Sports through Virgin. That includes broadband. So in reality it's half that. Always good to shop around.
If you can’t receive Virgin (we can’t) then it’ll cost more than that. Sky with sports is around £45, TNT sports is around an additional £19 a month.

I pay for a vpn, some may pay me for use of this service under my allowable allowance. What they download to use for their benefit may be due to me allowing it. I pay for a legal service.

Dodgy streams, eh?

I have a confession to make. Before retirement, working as VP Technology for IP Solutions at a major publisher, I was for a time responsible for a group that was hunting and shutting down illegal distribution of sports feeds, in particular EPL. Darkened secure room in a London basement, finding streams in real time then working with rights holders to get them shut off. A major source of information was bulletin boards where people were sharing URLs, including our team asking for streams in direct messages. We weren’t after individual stream consumers, but rights holders potentailly could follow up on them

Assume they are the streams available on the snide, ad-ridden websites that are only used by people who don’t have access to IPTV on their “dodgy” Firesticks?

Did you do any work trying to shut down IPTV streams?
