Recently read that GPs can earn £100,000 without working evenings or weekends and then be paid extra sums for not sending patients to consultents/specialists ,what are your thoughts on this subject?

I feel quite uncomfortable with the financial incentives to not refer patients. Dodgy.

I think I would first like to hear more about this before making judgement. On the surface, it sounds crude and can destroy the relationship between doctor and patient, if the latter suspects that he is being told to go home and not worry, purely so that the former can get a bonus.

I'd like to see the link to the article, to be able to put it into context before making a comment.

One of many links below. No doubt we will hear how NHS waiting times and demand have dropped in due course. The rich do not care as go private anyway. This will encourage more middle income earners to do likewise and/or start making payments. Latest data on the massive NHS budget deficit is being held back until after the Tory conference. The commercialisation of health provision marches on. **** the poor.
