Do you wet shave?

Thanks Happy. I have just emailed Cutter and Grinder as they offer a sharpening service but I don't expect it to be cheap as they charge £25 for a hair cut and £35 for a shave. I figure if I get it professionally sharpened I might stand a chance of keeping it up with the leather and stropping paste for a while at least.
If I have to get it sharpened once a year it will still be a considerably cheaper option than giving my money to Mr Gillette.

Havent seen the old blades in a shop for ages, mind I havent looked, but where are they on sale.

ebay from around £20. Don't go for anything with SHAVETTE in the title. It's just a safety blade that you have to break in half and slot into the holder, waste of time.

Used to wet shave, grew a beard about 3 years ago and never looked back, now all I have to do is trim the beard once a week and I use a cut throat to get nice straight edges.

I use a Gillette Fusion but did once use a disposable while on holiday, never again. Does any body still use the old fashioned screw top razors that you put the blade in.?

yes I do for my head as I have a beard. much much better in my opinion . the blades cost about 2p each . you can take it out and clean it . no irritation whatsoever if used with the right soap and a brush

Wet shave. I use these Feather blades with a variety of razors I've acquired over the years. About £4 for 10, and good for a couple of shaves each. I use a brush with shaving cream. Have used the Pro Raso green range of shaving products mostly, cream and balm. Not expensive and work well.

The price for other wet shave multi-blade options are too much, and are less effective anyway IMO. And I am not brave enough to go for the cutthroat option.

I only wet shave, hair too course for lecky razors and they just jam up, which is painful.
Got a beard at the moment which I have been growing for 3 weeks, as I am going/playing at a Viking party this weekend.
It's a friends 50th and he's mad about them.
I'm dressing up like Ragnar with shaved head sides and back, false tatts and all.
I've already got long hair in the center with the undercut thing going on and wifey has made a long leather bound platted hair piece to attach as a pony tail, as well as an extension piece for the beard to make it long and pointy.
Should look odd playing the sax done up like this.

Yes, much closer than an electric and the combination of Gillette Power Fusion and Somerset's sensitive skin shaving oil (much better than foam or gel) means no nicks or cuts.

I use a Gillette 5 bladed fusion thingy for the cutting bit, it works fine and gets nice and close.

However, the most important part of a wet shave is the lube. Forget cheapo Gillette foam in a can or any of that King of Shaves gubbins, you simply can't beat Body Shop Maca Root Shave Cream. Discovered it about 10 years ago, trust me there is no going back once you've tried it.

I did and it caused me no end of irritation sadly.

Went back to KOS menthol oil and no issues at all.

Always wet shave, tried electric when young but hated it. Always have used various Gillette's, no idea why I have never tried Wilkinson sword. Got fed up with my son's using my razor and keep paying out for decent ones, so tried the Cien 5 blade Shark from Lidl and it is excellent. I have also used gel for years but recently the wife mistakenly bought the cheap Tesco own brand foam. And it was very good.

Can't wait for the next Gillette wet shave product. Its called the ultra turbo V12 speciale and it comes in lurid colours and lights up in different colours depending on up or down stroke. Best of all it comes with 20 blades ( yes count them!) and a disclaimer not to use too much pressure less you decapitate oneself. Best of all it retails at the bargain price of £30 a set of 3 cartridges and you need to pass a credit check and you on purchase you are escorted from the display to the checkout by a member of the SAS!

If you get irritation from wet shaving try shaving in the shower with king of shaves oil, no nicks or cuts and none of that razor burn
