Also future Albion midfielder Neil McNab and manager Peter Taylor in the Spuds side.

You never see mudbath pitches like that anymore, it's like watching a grand prix in the rain - a totally different discipline.

I love watching matches from the 70s.

They really weren't, most were boring badgeless efforts and this era (from the mid-60s on) saw the beginning of all-white, all-red and all-blue strips too.

can't agree

modern day shirts

with adverts all over them and names on the back

crappy material too

the Brighton bukta shirt has been our finest imho

But that is just one kit (and your personal liking)
I am sure the players in those days would have appreciated today's high-tech kits especially in hot weather. Or rather not heavy cotton in pouring rain. The design that goes into some shirts is amazing. Even our green away shirt is quite something when viewed close up. The Umbro, Bukta etc shirts of times gone by showed how far we have come. Can you imagine a sponsors logo on the United kit in that clip v Palace?

pro players yeah of course, but us mere mortals

back in the mid 70's I remember a kid having the Man City top,the one with the badge smack bang in the middle
how he got it I'll never know, but he was the envy of all the kids up the park and none of us even supported them

around that time, somehow I aquired some Sunderland socks, the red one's with a white top, they were pretty damn cool at the time also

I can see your point with the late 60's early 70's kits, but from the mid 70's the kits were becoming alot more interesting

I sometimes watch European Cup and UEFA Cup ties from the 70's and 80's shown on TV or youtube, involving English clubs, also some First Division games in the same era.

Contrary to the hype that football began in August 1992, the standard of play is brilliant, many great English, Irish and Scottish players, decent pitches, hardly anyone playing hoofball.
