Yes, I think it’s the first time I have ever backed Scotland at any sport too. Closest I’ve come before is when CMS played for them but I never had the same affection for him that I have for WBG

I think you’ll find the “Glorious Failure” is a patented England phrase and we are long time World record holders at it!
Objectively, it's funnier when England do badly and when Scotland do better than England.

Therefore, for comedy reasons, I'm always keener for England to crash out in vainglorious style than I am Scotland.

No. I don't think the fact that one Brighton player playing for Scotland is reason enough to wipe out a lifetime of hoping (and generally seeing) them fail. WBG is our player but he probably won't be for the whole of his remaining career.

If a Celtic player was in the England team, does anyone think their fans would be keen to see England succeed?

Yes, because it would be a significant moment in their history.

A bit like a monkey finally knocking out the opening scene to Romeo and Juliet on a typewriter.

i always want the home nations to do well, although id rather England do better than the others.
I dont understand the ABE attitude that it seems most scottish fans seem to have but whilst i will take the piss when Scotland fail this evening, I would like them to win

Just about, if only for THPP and WBG, but other than that, I don't really care.

With a population of 5.5m, the bottom line is that they will always find it hard to progress.
Never say never though. Denmark, with a similar population, won it in 1992....

Yes. Anything to make our Wee Billy happy. His value is also surely rocketing as pundit after pundit identifies him as the player that makes Scotland tick.

I’ve absolutely loved the comparisons and juxtapositions with Rice who stands on the centre backs feet (for England) and like a magnet, pulls the whole team back towards Pickford. In stark contrast, Wee Billy consistently drives Scotland (and us) forward. The whole team shape moves up when he drives up the pitch with or without the ball. He is brilliant at it.
