Yes.
I was too young to appreciate 1966.
Thought the Euro in 1996 was a great lift for the country.
However, I will move on quickly if we don't get it! (It won't be the end of the world)

How the f*** can 30% of people say NO!?!?!?!?! Oh my god I think I'm gonna join the EDL :)

f***ing unpatriotic of some. I understand if people have said no cos of the corrupt bastards in a way but f*** that i'd rather win it as it's the only way to host the World Cup - something we all want in our lifetimes... After we hopefully get the event then we can discuss the corruptness surely.

I thought the negative England team attitude on here was bad enough but this is a f***ing joke!

I'd love us to get it, but I don't expect us to.

Desparately want it. Then the FA can start plaani g long term for that and set the long te development of the squad accordingly and if will be awesome.

Yes, and Australia to win the 2022, that woud be a superb double result today.......

Looking at the other candidates, surely Australia have got to get it?

USA - held it in 94
Korea/Japan - held it in 2002
Qatar - when are the games going to be played? 3am? Far too hot.

But, with FIFA, you never know...

You'd think so, especially after they withdrew form 2018 to concentrate on 2022, however Qatar have come up with a promise to build "cooled" stadiums that can be dismanteled afterwards and relocated around the world in needy locations - pretty smooth move that, plus the US have gambled their bid on gauranteed biggest ever profit from a tournament.....

As I pointed out earlier, they were favourites last I looked.

It would mean 28 years between US World Cups, not too dissimilar to the 32 years between Germany in 74 and 06 and a lot longer than the 16 years between Mexico 1970 and 1986.

I wrote an article last week on the technology that was being used to design one of those stadiums, it was really impressive. Individually air-conditioned seats - made the 1901 Club look like ruffians.

Whoever says they dont care is talking gash coz they will do in 7 and 1/2 years time.

After recent revelations I think this country are waiting to launch into Fifa if we dont get it. Which is why we may do.

I aint talking gash mate, i honestly dont care either way!

Didn't Mexico take over from Columbia at the last minute in 86 due to a natural disaster?

Fair point about Germany but it could be argued that, after reunification, Germany was a "new" country.

Hell yes, we have the stadia (what about Falmer) and the infrastructure. FIFA will show their continued sublime stupidity if they opt for Russia, a crime ridden country where corruption is a way of life.
