HMM, just got back off holiday from a quite little place in Corfu ( ie not a big strip or loads of young ones partying ) and just about every one round the pool smoked !! old and young southerners, Northerners and Scottish. As neither me or the Mrs smoke ( I do when drinking ) we counted out of about 20 round the pool only 3 did not smoke, my Mrs a lady from N Ireland and the Greek lady at the bar...Note one lady who just sat all day and smoked was from Brighton.

So when these figures come out I always wonder whether people like me who only have 1 or 2 a day count themselves as smokers or try and kid themselves, or do people go on holiday and smoke just because they can ??

My Nan (who died from a smoking related illness) was advised by her doctor that she was a heavy smoker and should cut down. She protested and stated she only smoked 15-20 a day. The doc replied that medically, 5 a day is classed as heavy.

gave up 4 years ago. Absolutely massacred a e-cig for a about a month and then stopped that as well. Tried a cig about 4 months later and felt sick so haven't really fancied one since

I smoked for 26 years but haven't had one since March 1991. I couldn't afford it financially or medically now. I'm glad to be free of the slavery it held me in.

Because its a fad, that is ultimately leading to more people being addicted to nicotine, you look like a plank, you spray a cloud across a building and go to shops to buy different flavours as if you are a child going sweet shopping.

I must say I don't get vaping, either smoke or don't but people who vape just look ridiculous (to me). I can understand it if you're doing it short term to wean yourself off proper fags or you use it for cannabis, but otherwise....why?

Vapor e fags tend to really make me cough,worse than a cigarette,it's like starting smoking all over again,perhaps smoke does not get into the lung as far as the vapor does..

No, but I've had cancer twice ! Good news it's down, but quite surprised it's still that high - I don't think there is any excuse these days for people to continue smoking.

One wonders if whilst smoking levels have fallen,what percentage takes drugs or highs or whatever now compared to 30 years ago for example..........something is taken as the crutch to avoid the monotony by the masses.
