I'm assuming that the conditions have been put in place in order to protect small local businesses. Which is in line with the Local Plan policy. But to be honest, I'd have thought Lewes was the wrong place for an Aldi anyway - and I don't say this for any snooty "too good for an Aldi" reasons, just that I can't see them making a success of it.

I would agree and would add that I have used the new one in Piortslade, due to pressure from my mother, and was pleasantly suprised at the quality of some of the goods. The vegetables are really cheap like 39p for a pointed cabbage as opposed to 80- 90p in most other supermarkets.
