The OP's question pricked my memory bubble. I happened to get married in the US the day after Brighton played Hereford the 96/7 season. I remember my son in law who attended the wedding listened live via a public telephone and a friend positioning a radio. Only later in the day did I find out about our survival and the enormous amount it cost my son in law! Now look where we are. For supporters of my vintage (and son in laws) it's quite astounding!
