Do you live near an Albion player?

In 1996, that football genius called Bellotti told me that the ONLY reason the Albion were underperforming was that most of the squad insisted on living miles away from Brighton.

When Jason Peake moved from Rochdale to Brighton, part of the deal was The Albion would pay his moving expenses. He then moved from Lancashire to Leicester! Bellotti refused to pay the expenses - Probably the ONLY sound decision Bellotti ever made. Probably also the reason why Peake appeared in a permanent sulk when he played for Brighton. If there has been more lazy, more disinterested player, I'm struggling to remember?

Maybe that was why he was such a terrible Chief Exec - as anyone who threw snowballs at his garage would know he lived nowhere near the Goldstone.

For about a year in about 1975 when I was 9 or 10, Peter Ward rented a house in my street in Hangleton (semi detached in case you're wondering). My Aunty who got to know him and lived a few doors away persuaded him to take my autograph book/stats to the Goldstone.
He duly did the deed, got the signatures of the entire team and one afternoon walked down to my house, knocked on the door and handed it over in person. Not to me obviously. To my mum. I was too scared to come downstairs.

He subsequently moved to "near Hove Park".

I have to correct you slightly: It was the whole house plus his car that was bombarded with snowballs. Apparently, allegedly, so I'm told.

That of course is absolutely allegedly correct. However, a very basic understanding of 'noise science' (and I'm sure that is its correct name - I did a couple of years studying it at The Sussex /Kent border University) would allow a person to target an integral garage door with a large fistfull of ice, knowing the sound would a) resonate very well and b) be very f*cking annoying to the spineless b*stard would lived there.

Used to get my haircut at Dave Fousler's, opposite the old Knoll Boys school along Old Shoreham Rd, West Hove - next to the now defunct Maytree pub.
Peter Ward and a lot of the players from that era all used to get there locks coiffured in there.

That's where I used to get my hair cut as a kid. Leo Sayer used to get his done there, too. Dolly Parton always seemed to be on the radio and I recall you got a handful of sweets when he finished the cut.

This reminds me of jokes at primary school about Kojak's hairdresser.
