I left when we were getting raped by Arsenal.

Sadly heard 3 more cheers as I made my way back to the station so couldn't escape it.

I once walked up to the exit at Gillingham so that I could leave as the final whistle went.

That Gabbiadini game when he scored 3 (or was it four?) for Darlington.

I remember that one. It was Bonfire Night and poured with rain all day and all night. We took a family from our daughter's school to their first (and probably last !) football match. They seemed impressed with Darlington though.....

No that Darlington match was in early March (I was mascot that day - great fun)

Left early on Saturday; only the 2nd time I've walked out before the 90th minute at the Amex.

My personal record was West Ham away when I was out inside of 35 minutes. Other notable mentions to the Palace 3-0 in which I somehow lasted just over an hour, Southampton 3-0 which was with 20 to go and the Reading 5-1 which was with 15 to play

Only once that I remember. Away at Massive in the playoff game last season, 5 minutes to beat the rush/traffic (epic fail) and also in my defence slightly numb/bewildered after what happened during the game.

12th September 2006.

Vs Bournemouth at Withdean, Tuesday night game.

Bored to tears after 30 minutes. Had 2 weeks leave from work booked, so left at half-time, put a pin in the road atlas in my car and drove straight to Cornwall. Arrived in Newquay in early hours and slept in the car. In the morning I bought some clothes, a wetsuit and a tent and stayed there for 10 days.

Happy times.

Yes. Often. If the game is dead (2 or 3 goal margin either way) I leave WSU on about 85 minutes to give myself half a chance of not spending over an hour waiting to get on a P&R bus. I never early though if there is only 1 goal in it.

Same here. Except tend to do it at around 89 mins.

Have never left a game early as a result of an experience in 1973 when I lived in East London. Spurs were at home to Derby in an FA Cup R4 replay. I tagged along with my older brother and his mates, all Spurs fans. Spurs were 3-1 up with a few minutes to go and so my brother and his mates all left early to head off to a nearby local to celebrate. I stayed and saw Roger Davies score two for Derby as full time approached and it ended 3-3. It went to extra time in which Davies completed his hat tick and Kevin Hector added a fifth for the Rams. Final score was 5-3 to Derby! I next saw my brother the following morning when he was reading the match report in the newspaper in total disbelief...unaware until then (in pre Internet and mobile phone days) what had happened. He never left a game early after that!

Have a 2.5 hour drive home to West Country so like to get early P&R. Not In favour of the self righteousness of some 'stay till bitter enders' as they probably don't face such a long journey. Stay to end of away games.

Never, ever not even once. Firstly I don't take losing personally, I'm happier when we win, but we all in honesty know, that as much as we support the club, it's not life threatening when we lose. If winning was all that mattered to me I'd support Man Utd (some do, only for that reason)
Besides, match day isn't entirely about the 90 mins. I enjoy both pre and post match socialising, nice to see all the ugly *******s that sit close to me, and I never see elsewhere. I doubt there's more than a couple of times at the Amex I've left within an hour of the final whistle. FFS ... I don't even get a free Bovril at home ... so for me at least, what's the rush?

This is the key to it.....length of journey. The Amex is a difficult ground to get away from and those who travel a decent distance ( I have a minimum two hour drive....longer if passengers with me ) don't particularly want an extended stay after the game. On Saturday, I left on 89 minutes, walked briskly to the Bridge car park and cleared there at 5.45pm, all with a two hour drive still ahead. Very rarely stay to the final whistle due to this scenario. Usually wait to see how much stoppage time and then leave about half way through that. That means I am away down the concourse and just clearing the station area at full time. Still doesn't prevent some delay getting away but helps.

Funny you should say that. Popped into Dick's bar pre match and thought I was in the Man Utd supporters club. Shrieking and shouting when they were attacking...lots of..." c'mon Wayne and " go on Marcus " etc. Roar when they scored. Think some other fans were getting a bit pissed off and starting shouting for City. What the hell was all that about? You expect two neutral sets of fans to be chatting away about the forthcoming game, whilst watching ( fairly quietly ) the tv game.
Made me wonder if it was supposed BHA fans whose true allegiances were coming out or was it Man Utd fans, who had met up with BHA supporting mates before the game. The trouble with the second theory is that there are a lot easier places to watch the game than the Amex. I suppose we just have to accept that there are a number of people who come to the Amex whose heart really lies elsewhere.

I look at it a little differently in that I have driven 2 and a half hours to get to Falmer so want to get the most out of my day out. That's why I stay until after the final whistle before making the long journey back. Each to their own though.

Once that I can remember. 1980-something. Pretty sure we were 4-0 down at home and it was snowing, so jacked it in with about 5 minutes to go. I'd have missed some memorable games if I'd left every time we were losing with 5 minutes to go!

Can see that point of view as well. Strangely, I always tend to stay to the final whistle at away games, adopting the..." made all this effort, no point missing anything and the lads deserve a clap " attitude, even though a number of away games are the same journey time as every home game.
