A Scottish manager (no names mentioned in a Macbeth sort of way) was villified, castigated and would have been shot if some on here had their way for suggesting that some games didn't matter.

Our current manager says pretty much the same and it seems most of you roll over to have your tummy tickled.

So, does it matter if we treat all cup games with complete disdain because our manager says it's OK?

I'd love a cup run as long as we can sustain it alongside keeping up the league form.

However i can understand the majoritys view that the league is more important too.

I'm not particularly bothered. Our priority is promotion to the Championship so we no longer even have to worry about rounds 1 and 2 of the FA Cup.

Thats where this club should be.

I, too, will be gutted to see us lose at Woking. Some people need to start taking it all less seriously...football is to be ENJOYED, and if the FA cup entertains me and we get a big away tie, so be it :)

Unless we get a team like South Coast Club in the second round I'll be furious if we don't make it to the third, by all mean put out a second string team but at least motivate them to win the game, the players we had out there last night should've won easily.

I would like a cup run but as referenced in another thread is we have a potential tough 2nd round game I suspect a reserve team will play the replay.

Yes but with the fringe or reserve team...just remember Leeds last year!

We simply MUST go up this year!

I would like to beat Woking, win the 2nd round with ease and then draw a plum home tie at Withdean to go out in the 3rd round but to go up against better opposition and also to say goodbye to cup games at Withdean.

I'm not really bothered either way. Winning games builds a winning mentality, but extra games tire players and brings the risk of injuries. If we win, good. If we lose, no biggie.

Stats would suggest we had chances to win the game (60% possesion; 15 attempts against 4), but didn't.

If we get another home draw this afternoon, with a chance of a game against a top team, would that change any minds?

Don't see a good cup run and good league form as mutually exclusive.

*ugger it!

Win 'em all!!

The only saving grace about our draw yesterday was that both Huddersfield and Charlton drew also meaning an extra match for them. They are also both in the JPT so i want them to go further.
Looking at Huddersfield's line up yesterday they fielded a full strength team where as we didn't.

Winning is a good habit to keep. The likes of Utd and Arsenal don't pay too much attention to the league cup or for that matter the FA cup only because they have a bigger cup competition they are involved with.

The attitude he has sent the players out with in cup games this year has been a disgrace. Yes the players have to take some responsibility but the attitude transmits from the manager, who evidently didn't care about yesterday. I've got nothing against Poyet resting some first-teamers but the least I expect is some desire and commitment from the players to perform.

The league is the priority but the attitude still has to be right for the cups.

I would have the usual empty feeling in my tummy that I always get when the Albion lose, if we lost to Woking. I want Brighton to win this game and indeed, every single game every single week.
Having said that, we're not going to win the FAcup this year and despite it's tradition, I really don't care about it right now. I want Championship footy next season and if it means cup humiliation this season to achieve this target, then i'm fine with that.

Not too bothered, but it would be humiliating if we went out to Woking.

Cup run in the early stages should be done by the team that ran out yesterday; they'll cane Woking at Kingfield and will then take on another small team - remember, we're the top team in the competition at the moment - and beat them too.

Anything after that is a bonus where we can start introducing the stronger players if required.

A 3rd round defeat to one of the big boys is my preferred option; not only will it help us concentrate on the league, it will be kinder to my wallet.

I care, I trust gus, I wouldn't be bothered if we were knocked out BUT I would love a cup run.

Its important we try but its not the be all and end all. We should aim for the third round.
