No problem for me. I've got gold membership. (blows on fingers and rubs them on my chest)

And I have a valid though no longer recognised old away membership.

I'm doomed,I tell'ee.

And out of pocket.

Couldn't agree more. Having put more corpses than I can recall into zip-up bags, death first hand alway has an over-riding sense of that's it about it.

For the body, I agree but there is a spirit and soul.

But even if you look in their eyes, theyre dead - there's nothing there. I have had people dying saying that theyre going on a journey etc., but when they actually die, its so final.

I don't even believe in life before death.

...they certainly are going on a journey bag, in my case it will be to the morgue, the crematorium and finally to have my ashes scattered on the South Downs.

That is quite a 'personal' thing though. I don't mean that in a bad way because everyone believes/experiences different things. I have nursed several people as they have passed on and well, I can't even explain it but I don't think there is 'nothing' there, at least not initially. I think it's only final in so much as their body life has ended, not that the rest doesn't carry on. Pregnancy has zapped my brain cells and I am not even sure that makes sense.

There are billions of creatures on the planet, do they all get a second go too? Of course not.

Of course there's nothing there. I have sat with people (my ex father in law, my own Dad) as they died. The body is an empty shell. You are not your body. You have a personality (your soul) which makes you unique. Why do you think that you never feel older in your head despite your body getting older every year?

the normal rule of thumb of mother nature is:
a plant is born.
it lives it's life.
it dies then does to seed.
a new plant is reborn.

does anyone remember a documenrty about 6 months ago about a young boy about 10yrs who described everything about a previous life, people, places etc.
it was all checked out and they went to visit ireland i believe and even pictures that had been drawn all tallied up.
i'm a bit vague about the programe but it was vey interesting to say the least

I agree and don't believe in re-incarnation. That is Hinduism.

You dont still have the mind of a 5 year old when you're 55 though! I just dont believe that there is a soul. A personality comes from synapses in the brain in my mind - and different pathways create different personalities.

I can understand why people think that there's a soul in there, as it makes these things easier to bear, and find a belief in the unexplained - but i suppose in myself and alasdair's case seeing death so often makes us believe less in it. I was talking through it to a group of nurses on my ward after the death of a patient, and none of us did believe that anything happened after death.

I`d like to think that the pork I had for tea tonight will once again wallow in shit and snuffle around in a muddy sty.
Or maybe it will come back as another animal.

There just has to be re-incarnation surely.

I am talking about a grown up mind as you well know, lol

It is down to individual beliefs and I have explained a very small part of what I believe.
