Also Birchall.

What we lack is a creative midfielder: Birch has shown glimpses of this (eg pass to Nicky at Luton) but has not been given a proper go in his preferred position.

Spot on:thumbsup:.
Birchall is this seasons Paul Reid (i.e played out on right, when best position is in centre)

RS has now seen it for himself after believing the dynamic duo that Virgs and El Bad could be a midfield solution. He now realises that both are utter toilet and need to be in defence.

Completely agree with this although Birchall hasn't ended up at right/left back yet...there's still time this year I know! Birchall came here saying that he was a central midfielder but could play wide, why not give him a chance in his preferred position? He cannot be any worse than Fraser/El Abd/Virgo/Jarret in the middle.

Slade seems to think so, and is going after one from a Championship club?

Bangura
Fraser
Livermore
Jarrett
El Abd
Virgo

I guess if it puts Virgo and El Abd further away from a centre midfield place then I am up for it, but a 25th signing of the season, is that what we need?

I would agree with him on the basis of the last 2 performances. Let's face it, it's all last throw of the dice stuff so we may as well give it a go.

I'm really struggling to understand this loanee problem. While I agree with everything that has been said about our loanees (they (mostly) flatter to deceive for a game or two, then become utter shite) - but WHY?
Loanees (apart from promising youngsters lent out to a lower division club to get some first team experience) are all players who can't get into their own club's first team, who don't really figure in the club's future plans and have no queue of bidders lining up to buy them; when their contracts are up they are likely to be out of a job. So, they're in the shop window, so to speak - it's their big chance to show what they can do so that their careers can continue - you'd think they would therefore be playing out of their skins to try to impress someone. So why don't they?
