They were all over Meridian before Wood was appointed talking him up as manager, and they talked about what a great appointment Hinsh was. I didn't see many people saying Hinsh and Wood were no good when they were given the job, and they both had almost flawless records as caretakers.

Yes, I accept that. The support of the players for Booker should not be given that much weight for the reasons you give.

I accept some of the arguments against Booker which have been given, e.g. he doesn't have contacts in other clubs which are vital to us in terms of loan signings et.c. (on the other hand I don't think Dowie or Cotterill have great contacts with bigger clubs). I don't however, think we can judge Booker because of Hinch or Wood. My position would be the same had either of those two been a success.
