If you look at this a strike partnership is more important than a 25 goal a season striker.
It is a long long time since we have had that - Murray and Forster both scored lots of goals but never really worked well together. In fact if you look at the stats (which I haven't) they probably scored more when the other was not playing.
Zamora never really had a prolific partner neither did Knight.

In terms of winning games we do NOT need a '25 goal a season striker'

this is because about HALF of these goals are normally scored in a context that has no effect on who wins the match. Ie scoring a brace t the end of a 4-0 win. That I where MANY players score their goals.

So if I'm being pedantic, we don't NEED one. Just a Ayer who contributes to the team scoring as a unit will do me.

Thanks!

So only Charlton got nowhere near the magical 25 goal a season striker. Does shows how important a partnership is though.
