One per country plus previous winner. We are heading slowly towards a european league

The champions league has been going in the same format for about 22 years so hardly heading towards a european super league. Also, wasn't that one of the reasons that the format changed to prevent the top clubs breaking away and forming their own league?

Yes because we pay most for the TV rights, no English teams no MASSIVE billions from BT Sport next season, in fact maybe we should have SIX teams or even more instead of all the NODDY Latvian and Moldovan teams who aren't worth two BOB

making sence for once. dont know why anyone has the idea the places are handed out on competitivness, they are given out on size and popularity of the leagues involved, with a bunch of peripheral leagues added because, you know UEFA has to really.

Rules is Rules

Currently, the top three ranked countries – Spain, England and Germany - are given four Champions League places, while the three countries below - currently Italy, Portugal and France - are given three.

The countries are ranked on a coefficient score, based on 'points' gained from performance in the Champions League and Europa League in the last five seasons.

How does this compare to other countries this season?

England’s score of 13.571 is currently fourth-best; Spain have 15.785, Germany 14.428 and Italy 15.

So where are England in the overall rankings when taking into account the past five seasons (including 2014/15)?

England are currently second in the overall coefficient ranking – the one that counts - with 80.391 points over the past five seasons. That's 18.357 (2010/11) + 15.250 (2011/12) + 16.428 (2012/13) + 16.785 (2013/14) + this year's 13.571.

Let them go away and get on with it.

Football is terrible these days. Realistically only 3 teams can win the Premier League and maybe 4 or 5 can win the Champions League.

We'll never see the days of Nottingham Forest or Aston Villa winning either again. It's a cartel.

A month or so back the thought of Nottingham Forest or Aston Villa winning a game was unlikley!

I really don't get those who only want the winners of the nations League competition in it, that would be a complete mess.

So after Bayern, Athletico Madrid, Man City, PSG, Juventus and Real Madrid as last years wiiner who have we got? Porto, Basle, Then er Celtic, Steaua Bucherest, some team from Southern Ireland and a bunch of part time postmen and builders from Lithuania. A load of 10-0 aggregate wins with no competitive matches until the last 8. The UEFA Cup was always better in the 80s as it was more competitive. In this scenario, Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea, Dortmund and the like are all in it - No wonder that was the case.

Not one team in the last eight of the Champions League or the Europa League.
Coaches who still think that if all else fails just kick it towards a big blokes head.
Wenger........Giroud
Mourinho.....Costa
Pelligrini.....Dzeko
Van Gaal.....Fellaini

It goes on and on.....yet Barcelona play three up front.......Suarez.Messi and Neymar.
They play Mascherano at centre back.

Football was not meant to be a game played by giants.

You are right but how much did .Suarez.Messi and Neymar cost and can any club afford their like?

Money in the premier league is crazy but what Barcelona and Real Madrid spend is treble that!

You honestly think Arsenal's game is all about a big boot up to Giroud? You're on a different planet. As for City, how often does Dzeko start a game.

Messi didn't cost anything, he joined Barca when he was 12 as they were the only team prepared to pick up the medical costs for his treatment for his growth hormone deficiency.

Neymar and Suarez were pricey admittedly.

Arsenal regularly play to get set pieces so they can send up Meretesacker. Is he in the team for his skills??:lolol::lolol::lolol:
Giroud is also a big lump to play the ball up to.

City will also send in Toure up with Kompany.

Chelsea are the tallest team player for player in Europe.

Being big is not enough.

Arsenal top scorer is Sanchez, hardly scoring with his head. How many of Arsenal's goals this season have come from header following a set piece? Meretesacker has only scored one goal this season.

Man City top scorer, Aguero. One of the tallest players in the league!!! Their second highest scorer is Da Silva, another giant getting on the end of corners.

Out of interest, does Pique ever go forward when Barca have corner or free kick?

You are talking rubbish based on hearsay. Yes, English clubs haven't done well this season but our record over recent years isn't too bad. In the last ten years, we've had 8 finalists in the Champions League including 3 winners and 3 finalists over the same period in the Europa cup including one winner.

How many times has a German team won the CL in the last 10 years, or for that matter an Italian team, or French or Dutch. Our record is second to Spain.

Just to clarify, my point was that we are no nearer and no further from having a European super league than we were when the CL was established. It is, in all but name the European super league except instead of it being in the sole control of the big clubs as was possibly threatened, it is in the control of Uefa (although they aren't the greatest organisation) and the participants remain in their domestic leagues.
