It is what it is. Personally looking forward to Eid as a massive Lamb feast is always cooked by my mother in law. The joys of being an atheist from a Jewish family married into a Muslim family, living in a Christian country, is that I get to celebrate a lot of religious festivals without giving a shit. Even celebrate the odd Hindu festival with my sister in law's husband - obviously not every Hindu festival.

Watching Salah be completely ineffective over the last few games after being a power horse all season had me thinking there must be a massive correlation between him not drinking or eating for hours on end and playing like complete sh1t.

Suprise suprise this has barely been mentioned in mainstream media.

Anyway are any of our players fasting at the moment? Judging by the last few performances from our first 11 I'm guessing the answer is no !
A lot of athletes get dispensation to perform Ramadan at another time of year, so Salah being shit is likely to be something else.

There are all sorts of dispensations available - but a lot of it depends on whether the individual wants to use them (a kind of ‘strength of belief’ thing as it was explained to me anyway).

    • Fidya (Compensation):
        • If you are unable to fast due to a valid reason and are unable to make up the fasts later, you can pay fidya.
        • Fidya involves feeding a needy person for each day you missed fasting.
        • Fidya is primarily for those who are unable to fast due to old age, chronic illness, or other reasons that prevent them from fasting.

I didnt realise that even water is forbidden. I wonder how strictly its observed in the Super Lig?
BBC Sounds has a podcast about Ramadan called "Not even water"

There's several episodes about sports people and Ramadan . This one is about how boxers remain fit through the month and how they manage it.
