Jeeeeeeebus H. Microbus I know it shouldn't bother me, but the twats are really out tonight on NSC...

NO..it's NOT acceptable to play Glitter. He was a convicted paedophile. End of.

YES..it's acceptable to play Jackson. He was convicted of nothing, and anyone with half a brain would actually bother to research what is known about his case and realise why he wasn't convicted.

NO..the music of Jackson or Glitter or Beatles or Iyaz or Abba or Sex Pistols etc etc isn't the slightest bit shit. Barely ANY music is shit as is it's all about taste. There is enough music out there in the wide world to appeal to everyone's tastes so why knock it?

Must be bloody lonely in some of your narrow viewed lives...bet you've got some bad stomach acid going on too with all that negativity...

Unless said people are fascists, in which case i'm not surprised.

If it's a party for people of a certain age, when early 70's musicwas 'their time' then maybe play a few snippets as part of a medley of early 70's hits.

It can't be denied that he was big back then so any tribute to the charts of the time should include a snippet. If you play a whole track (or 2) then you run the real risk of offending someone. Play a part and see how it goes. Will be interested to hear the outcome.

If you like GG's music then play it and enjoy it...completely irrelevant what he did.

I'm not a fan, but only because I hated his big tune "Rock, Rock, Rock" or whatever it was called when it was released!

A mate was on LAPD at the time.
I take HIS word about the case, over a bunch of people who could be (were) corrupted or legally stopped from revealing the truth.

Also, MJ's assertions that he was molested by his father are not a reason to believe he had good reasons to fiddle about, or is innocent.

There's nothing inherantly WRONG with playing Glitters stuff. Its just that everybody knows exactly what everyone else will be thinking when one of his tracks starts belting out - there'll be a few uncomfortably glances between guests, and a load of people will go and sit down.

Basically it'll probably go down like a turd in a fondue, so personally I'd say best avoid it and stick a bit of Club Tropicana on instead.

A child in his care should not have been able to identify birthmarks on the underside of his penis.
Fact.

Why do people feel they need to defend the gloved fiddler?

This was disproved and a full retraction and apology issued...
Fact.

Never ever heard Jackson state his father had molested him. Abused (beat with a belt) yes, molested no.

But you seem convinced there was a cover up, so nothing I say will alter your view. Agree to disagree is the only answer in this debate.

Nothing to do with the Michael Jackson case, but with regards to the Los Angeles Police Department, they are probably one of the most corrupt forces going, just one of many examples.......

Under your skin.
MJ didn't have a childhood. That would f*** up anyone mentally. The amount of kid stars who have died of drug/booze overdose in their 20s/30s is very high. MJ took it out very differently.

Glitter is just a cu*t. Don't play his stuff UNLESS you are going to scream CHILD SHAGGER over the top.

Actually it does seem that the main difference is that Glitter was pretty much a UK artist rather than worldwide like most of the others mentioned, maybe the Johnny Foreigner doesn't worry about such things as much as we do?

Sounds about right.

My mate is the lead signer in a cover band called The Glitter Gang. They play all 70's glam rock music and get dressed up just like Gary did.

Nobody seems to give a toss about Gary Glitter himself, they just enjoy the music.

Ferdinand Porsche was in league with Hitler, but people still drive around cars he created and were made by the Nazi favoured companies.

And they were a fair bit worse than Gary.

I have to say, my musical tastes are very much influenced by the 60s and 70s,and whilst I most certainly do not condone what Gary Glitter did, it would not stop me listening to any of his music that I liked, to many, music brings back memorys, and that era was some of my best memorys.

And I most certainly would buy a porsche, well, if i could afford one. :p
