If you are dislocating your shoulder repeatedly get yourself checked for EDS/hypermobility. This is an increasingly diagnosed problem and has a spectrum from 1-9 so you can have it mildly or severely. It is essentially a problem producing colagin, a protein which binds tissues in the body. You can strengthen these connective tissues with weight training and sport as this helps your body produce proteins and taking a good protein suppliment. It is worth getting checked if it is a recurring problem as if not looked into can cause problems later in life.

whooo there nellie - thats a big call to make...

Dislocations put simply are one of the downsides of a shallow ball and socket joint. Whilst weight training can strengthen the surrounding some of the muscles (rotator cuff), an anterior dislocation weakens the ligaments, which are difficult to repair completely in young active people. About 90% of people who disloate shoulder under the age of 20 will become repeat offenders...

EDS is a disease and not to be dished about lightly.

Personally I don't agree with your stance on protein supplements either, sorry.

Disease is a bit of a harsh word in my opinion. It's a genetic malfunction (much like Marfan's). Both are permanent and symptoms can be mild. Doubt Uncle Buck has got either though.

Check out http://www.hypermobility.org/ if you're not sure. There's a simple couple of tests to do to see if you're hypermobile.

Oh, and I don't agree with protein supplements either.
