It should be very easy to find 60 1901 members willing to swap their Bennett's Field spaces, for Uni ones, given that getting out of BF is such a ballache.

You would have thought wouldnt you and it makes me you wonder how many 1901 members have signed this petition but not offered to help. If I was 1901 I would be more than happy to swap my space, on the proviso if I want to sell my seat then I would want to swap it back. I think thats a pretty fair offer is it not?

Thanks Chap, it was El Pres who set up the petition, I'm suprised that so few have signed it so far, but perhaps it will start growing now, so make sure you pass out the link, Facebook it and Twitter it.
I'm not surprised. Reading one of the other threads this just sound right, and obviosuly people are not comfortable signing it without knowing the whole story, and I don't think we are getting that... yet. If the petition had been to move the spaces to the A27 side of the stadium I think loads more would have signed it, but its not just about that, and maybe, just maybe thats why the numbers who have signed are so low.

So you agree with it in principal, and you do know the whole story, but you won't sign it, well thanks for that. El Pres put the petition up swiftly, perhaps missed off the points about the location of the spaces, which I have addressed in the original post. Is that not enough for you? Oh well.

No. If its a petition for the club to take notice, and things have been missed off, then no its not good enough. It looks like its a petition to allow disabled people to park for free, and at the moment its hearsay, until someone publishes the email Martin Perry sent stating it would be free, and takes any doubt away. But it appears people are not preparded to sign it without knowing the facts.

If it was a petition to say move all disabled spaces to Bennets Field as a half hour walk/struggle for a diabled person is too much, then I would guess you would have all the signatures you need by now and more. But its not just about that is it.

Hey, I don’t know what "it's just about" I simply started a thread to push a petition that someone else had started. I only have 2 points of view here:

1. I think that the club should stick to their original promise of free parking.

2. I think the club should make all the required disabled spaces on the stadium side of the A27.

That is it for me, I have no other agenda whatsoever. If there are others with ulterior motives then that is not me. For me is two issues, both of which should be easily solvable.

Sadly you may be right, perhaps the petition wording isn’t presenting those 2 points, what to do now? Can the petition be altered, I imagine not, or start a new one?

One of the only downsides of working 8000 miles away is the fact that I have missed the start of a new era for the Albion. However, having read all about the issues the disabled face, I'm glad I'm not there getting stressed about it.

I am ambulent disabled and the club knew that when I was deciding where to sit. Friends used my season ticket and free carer ticket for the Doncaster game and have since told me that I have a seat, but my dad, who is my carer, does not. I have been sold a seat and a wheelchair space. One of my friends was told by a steward at the Doncaster game to sit down, but my friend pointed out that there was no seat for him to sit on. The steward fetched a plastic chair. Now it's not rocket science to sell the right seat to someone who doesn't use a wheelchair. MK Dons can do it.

I was also hoping to have a nice flag waiting for me when I got home, but no, the disabled fans didn't get one.

If I can't get to the stadium without being in pain; I shall have to give up my season ticket. As we keep on saying, we campaigned for Falmer For All.

Petition signed.

I would imagine a petition for the positioning of disabled spaces closer to the stadium would gather a lot more support.

The current petition doesn't mention that, and just petitions against something that *might* have been a mistake at the presentations.

This. Can it be changed to this wording?

I'm afraid I'm not going to sign. I think that whilst this is a serious issue, it should remain between those affected by it and the club directly, not through this forum. It seems there are some that are intent on stirring up animosity with the Board rather than continuing to negotiate through the various bodies representing the disabled. People are complaining of emails not being answered. Well, to be frank, if the emails have been sent in in the same tone as some of the postings recently then it is no surprise they are not answered. It easy to post a petition and even easier to get loads of people to sign up (look at some of the dubious topics on the Government website) but it is only going to achieve negativity. Proper dialogue over time will hopefully result in acceptable compromise but if people just spend their time slagging off the Board, MP or RH then is it any wonder that their stance becomes more entrenched.

With the very gratest of respect, we have some very intelligent people representing views of disabled fans and Ican assure you that correspondence with the club has been of the highest standard.

I campaigned for Falmer For All. All I am asking is that the club abide by the latter and the spirit of the Disability Discrimination Act. I am disabled yet I am currently 8000 miles away working to support our armed forces. My employer has enabled me to do that, yet when I come home I may not be able to spend Saturday afternoons in the way I have always done, simply because the club has not taken its responsibilities serioulsy enough.

End of rant.

Thank you for that but perhaps you could read my post again. I thought I made it clear that I referred to 'some' of the posts on here. I fully accept that there are intelligent people representing the views and I believe it is they who should be involved in discussions directly with the club, not through a free for all football forum. I think more would be achieved that way.

As someone who has been involved in discussions with the Club (and seen some progress made), can I say that it helps, rather than hinders, to have ALL shades of opinion expressed? Including the opinions of people who are clearly quite angry.

I agree with this. Further, I do not know how Phil's petition will be presented and/or used but in general a list of signatures is not necessarily a weapon to beat people with. Why make the assumption that a petition is negative?

Totally agree. It is only possible for a small number of people to make representations to the board, so a list of signatures showing support will help demonstrate that it is an issue is very important.. As long as it is worded & presented in a non aggresive manner then it can only be helpful.
