[Football] Disabled fan alledged to be floored by French Police

I saw this happen. Seen a lot of praise for the French police but I thought they were shite.

Although the lad in the Red away shirt who I assume was there as his career needed to calm down a bit he was way over the top. Thought he was going to get himself nicked at one point which wouldn’t have helped anyone.

The senior officer come over and they called an ambulance. Thought it was going to lead to it kicking off but clearly not seen by enough people at the time.

That was my thinking too. It’s hyperbole in true tabloid Suntastic manner. Poor fishing really, uncomfortable as might have been for bloke.

Interesting. When we were quite high up in the stairwell the cops guided the unwell fan and his carer into the infirmary room that was a couple of storeys above ground level. We assume that he received medical attention then. About 30-45 minutes later the same two fans appeared in the bottom concourse and were asking for medical assistance, which they appeared to receive from a paramedic. To us it appeared that the police and paramedics provided prompt support at the stadium. We’ve no idea what happened thereafter.

Quite. The Sun is know to concoct stories, and all we have is a video of a guy lying on the deck and some cops overlooking. Not convinced by this at the moment.

The wait for me, even though it was tedious and long was not the bad part. I was very close to where that happened, I didn’t see the incident. I did see the paramedics arrive and look after him, not sure how long it took. I hope the fella was ok.

The police there were fine from what I could tell, fairly relaxed. That sh!t paper is making it sound a lot worse then it was.

The issue for me, was the over crowding on the busses and people being sick, dehydrated and having panic attacks because of it.

Those policemen in the video were the same team that we were facing when being held in the stairwell for the hour or so. Seemed pretty cool with everything, probably surprised at how docile we were. They didn't over-engage but were just following orders from above.

More and more I'm beginning to think it was a miracle that me and my bro got through this line of police at the end just by coming up with a story about our taxi arriving !! Few others got through as well. Maybe 9.30pm?

I didn’t see the incident itself but saw the guy in Red acting like an absolute idiot towards the police as we eventually got on to the buses. He was kicking off and lucky not to get arrested.

The police and paramedics appeared to be proactive with his friend throughout from what I witnessed

If folk get angry, for very good reason, then they may not behave in quite the same way as a calm person that has not been impacted.

Pretty straight forward really. But there always seem to be folk willing to judge a situation based on how said person reacts to an awful situation.

Saddening.

Just for clarity.

The guy was getting angry with both the police and paramedics due to him ‘missing the bus’ rather than concern for his friend.

Once again, from what I saw, the paramedics and police dealt with the situation in the best way they could, the policeman in the video was the same guy escorting the IP down the stairs to get him medical attention.

The paramedics were giving him treatment and water and doing their best to assist.

No one was more frustrated that myself being kept in the ground as long as we were but the police on the ground were more than pleasant and accommodating IMO. They had no more of a clue than us as to what was going on.

I didn’t see this and can’t find it either; does the post add anything extra to to the tweet?

That said, Post #18, the one before your post, present quite a different story to the one in The Sun. :shrug:
