The number of yellows we have piled up is staggering, and yet I haven't thought for all I've seen this season we are a dirty team.

We are doing something wrong, because we are MILES clear of the next-worst on bookings, but it seems to be a combination of naivety, lack of pace at the back and in midfield possibly, and perhaps now a reputation with refs, who think we're fair game.

Gus recently claimed he "didn't realise" we had the worst record in the division, which I find hard to believe since we were 10 yellows clear when he said it. It's going to cost us more and bigger FA fines, and more importantly important bans, if it carries on like this. Throw into the mix the manager has been sent off, and the assistant manager for dissent, and you can't blame the FA for giving us a hard time.

It would help if referees stopped taking bungs prior to matches. (Southampton!) FA ignore it, FIFA endorse it. Same old same old! Why can't we take a stand when so many games are er influenced.

So lets go to Middlesbrough, and their linesman. On four occasions the ball crossed the touchline and the lino deemed the ball inplay in favour of the home team. No wonder the lads were losing it.

Either appoint competent officials or FA should admit the situation is utterly out of control and fine themselves. IDIOTS!

It looks like the ref for the Southampton game was punished for his ineptitude as he was a regular prem ref up until that game, since then he has only refereed one game and that was only last Sunday's match Sunderland v Blackburn so it looks like he was taken off for a month after his awful performance at st Mary's.

In over half our games we have had a higher yellow card:foul ratio than our opponents. I don't mean to sound like we're being victimised, but against leeds we both got 5 yellows, yet they had 18 fouls to our 8. Against middlesborough we had 12 fouls and 5 yellows to their 17 fouls and 3 yellows. This imbalance is a recurring theme in our games. (I think the Palace game is one of the few games that are in our favour, not that it's a consolation)

Despite this, I believe we still, in the majority of games, have fewer yellows than our opponents (or at least no more than them). I have a record at home.

It seems like games featuring brighton and hove albion lead to more yellow cards for both teams. Unfortunately for us, all our games involve brighton and hove albion, whereas our oppnents have, so far, only played one game involving albion, so for them it's an occasional spike, for us it's a regular high.

Our game is about passing and ball retention. Unfortunately, we give the ball away a lot and so have to dive in to get the ball back when we have lost it in dangerous positions. Just my theory anyway.

Was about to post the same thing. How many times have we seen a player "take one for the team" after giving away possession?

We are not dirty. But, equally we have a bit to learn. There is no excuse for the fines we have received. Surrounding the ref and remonstrating will do nothing other than get you in bother. And we do seem to fly in when we loose the ball. Sometimes it seems like a panic reaction. I'd like us to be more savvy and tackle less. Then we'd get less bookings.

I agree with you sentiment but I do not believe we have to dive in when we have lost it in a dangerous position. I like players to stay on their plates a little more and jockey players away, shield and frustrate etc.

Post Saturday!!!
Need I add more. The referee today was clearly influenced by factors outside the field of play. I hope he enjoys his Christmas bonus.
Again.....................................................
HOW LONG ARE THE FA GOING TO CONTINUALLY ENDORSE CORRUPTION AT THIS LEVEL.
