Ah yes. I read about that on the BEEB website. 60 year old? :( RIP Jogger.

Yes, that's the one. A very well known and respected man locally. Its always frustrating when, inspite of everybody's best efforts, a casualty is pronounced dead at the scene. But somehow even more poignant when they are a familiar face.

Rest in peace, Peter.

Easy answer, an immediate driving ban of 7 days if caught using a normal mobile phone when driving, enforcable immediately...tough shit if you are several hundred miles from home or on a motorway...enforce that and the instance of people transgressing would disappear almost overninght...short, sharp and shocking.

Apparently Sussex Police will be launching a new website to deal with this kind of report from other concerned motorists. No guarantee of any action against the offenders but at least the report will be taken and research carried out against the worst with a likely response further down the line.

the website is:

Yes they should be reported - it's dangerous as any lack of concentration is when you're driving. Personally if anyone calls me on the mobile and I am driving I wait till I can safely stop and then ring them back. If it's urgent they'll have left a voice mail anyway

I probably should have done something like calling the police the other day. A car in front of us was dangerously weaving left and right all over the road, when I noticed the driver and his passenger passing each other what looked suspiciously like a rather large spliff. The thought did actually enter my head to report it, but they turned off and I forgot about it.
