Anyone recommend a good digital camera up to £250
Must have good lense, MPEG capability, and at least 32Mb storage.
Thanks

I've got one of these and I think it's marvellous.

5 megapixels and it's only £165 now!

Otherwise this model is the one up from the teeny little one my sister has which is well smart

6 megapixels, slim as you like and all for just £235.

Though to be honest it really depends on what you want. I have a tendency to go for small and slim cameras as I know I won't bother taking it anywhere if it's not small enough to carry easily.

However you might prefer something like this

Only 5 megapixels but it has 10x optical zoom, and weighs in at £230.

To be honest though I don't know much about lenses and the like, I just like gadgets. you're probably best off speaking to Roz

Thanks Bluejuice - good start.

It was the small (handbag) camera I was after.

The cameras with the long lens like the Minolta Dimage Z5 are not all they are cracked up to be.

I would go for one that fits in the pocket.

My Pentax Optio broke down, but although it was frustrating, it had its good points.

The metal hydride batteries are annoying (they don't hold their charge even if unused), so the lithium ones could well be much better.

The extra memory storage card of at keast 512 Mb is essential. I woud be interested in what is the best pocket one available now.

I take a keen interest in Photography and would recommend lense quality (ie optical zoom and glass quality) over Megapixels.

I would recommend the Olympus c770..superb quality, 4MP and 10x optical

BTW this is with a 5MP camera

My dad, sister, and auntie all have one. Great little camera and just what I was about to recommend.

The Ixus 40 or 50 look ideal.
There is an optional lithium battery pack. Its unclear from the pictures what this is. Does it just use better batteries that replace the others or does it clip on the camera like a big lump?

Just got the Canon Ixus750.

7 megapixel and superb build quality. Dead simple to use and excellent results.

Has only just come out and still well over £300 here but I bought mine from ebay - used a reputable dealer who fedex'd it to me in 3days from Hong Kong for £250 including a spare battery, case, tripod etc. full UK spec

Sometimes you just can't beat ebay!!

I have a cannon ixus 50 and it's the dog's bollocks. Looks fantastic and takes a great picture. You won't get a more stylish camera for the 250-300 pound range than that.

I bought an IXUS 40 on a whim just before six weeks travelling. One of the best decisions I ever made - perfect. Fits in a pocket and takes great pictures. Was £100 cheaper off the 'net than in the high street.
