The bizarre thing is that we actually produce quite a bit of oil from the north sea. Why then are our prices still sky high? And why aren't we coining it in from selling all this incredibly expensive oil?

I am not completely certain on this, but I seem to remember hearing that the oil from the North Sea isn't the right grade of crude to be turned into petrol, most of it is used to make things like plastic and chemicals.
