My intention is to have sufficient fuel in the car to get me to our first stop at Lisiex Friday night. Fill up Saturday morning and drive to Pau and have sufficent to get us into Spain. Fill up when we enter Spain and then again before we leave Spain to go into Portugal which will give us fuel for use in Portugal. Refill when we enter Spain coming home and then again before entering France then again before catching the ferry home. This plan is based on the inmformation I have gained about prices also I shall buy my tobacco to bring home in Spain.

Sounds like military precision!

in between Eveux and Deux? and then again just outside of Bezier? Hyper U is also very cheap in Cap Agde, that was about 1.29?

Woooooahh Chucky, I stay at Les Champs Blancs, a stones throw from Hyper U on the route de rochelong in Agde. Been going there since I was a kid in the 80's, used to go every year between the ages of 5 and 14, now I take my wife and kids down there, last went in 2010, drove over the Millau Viaduct for the first time, amazing! That 3-4 hour drive from there to Agde was the most enjoyable driving I have ever had, fantastic roads, fantastic scenery! Last year I blasted down to Clermont Ferrand and we stayed in one of the Formula 1 hotels, 32 Euro for all of us for one night, great value! Where about' do you do the overnight stop (if of course you do the same route as I)? Cant afford it this year sadly, Cornwall for us but hope to get back for 2012!

You're going on holiday, right?

Why not just stop and re-fill as and when required. The variance in cost is not going to be that significant.

I drive right through, got a 2.20pm euro tunnel on the 13th July, drive via Rouen and then the same route as you, coming off at Pezanas, normally arriving at about 1.30am. We have a family house in Vias Plage, right next to the glorious med, I love it down there, surrounded by canals, vineyards, great weather 99% of the time, cheap wine and great food.....superb place. The Millau is a great view, we only get to see it on the way back, as its dark when i get there going down, but the drive is so easy, you can go miles with out seeing another car. have to meet you down there one year for a good beer up!!

I will but due to the number of miles we are driving it will save us quite a bit of money to fill up in the cheapest places, rather than just anywhere. Obviously I wont go out of my way but wihen I realize that we are down to the last 100 miles we will watch the prices. and fill up accordingly.

I'm driving to Saint-Cyr-Sur-Mer (just west of Toulon) in mid August. Tunnel over, then day 1 to Dijon Sud. Day two straight to the Med. Banking on 5.5 hours per day with stops. Two youngish kids to consider so didn't want to do it in one hit. Can anyone offer any tips? I've driven to Bordeaux before and also to the Alps. Just love driving in France as its so eeasy.
