[Help] DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER

Changed vans last year and as the other one was so old I never had a warning light re this…..yesterday one came up on the dashboard.

Question are these DPF cleaning fluids that you can buy any good and if so which one would you recommend.

Have you tried giving it a 30 or 40 mile motorway trip at the speed limit? DPFs do not like local running and need the occasional long high speed run. They also need to go into a mode that cleans the DPF which needs a long run to happen.

Not convinced that cleaning fluids are that effective. I actually removed my DPF as it was malfunctioning and I was quoted over 1k for a new one. Long time ago before the MOT test would flag a removed DPF though and you were considered the spawn of the devil for doing it.

Yes had the same problem with the R/Mail vans a nice long run normally sorts it out.As long as its not been on too long.

Literally went on yesterday…..ive had the van a few months and apart from the fortnightly trip to Seaford its generally urban motoring.

The Wynns stuff is good and works. I've had similar before and it did trick.

They have a DPF specific cleaner about £12 in Halfords and a tenner on amazon, and also bung in their extreme clean once every 6 months that's about £7. That's more to maintain cleanliness than cleaning something all sooted up already.

Both additives are to the fuel tank.
