Were red squirrels really common in the 80's?? certainly not down in Sussex

Nope, the red squirrel claim is nonsense.

In Menkind, they're selling a Commodore 64 replica with built in games. Sorely tempted, to revisit my 80s yoof.
I have one - they are alright but turns out the bloke who makes them is a dick, copyright trolling on Youtube with copyrights he has hoovered up rather than having any input to the original games. And the joystick you need to use is woeful. Added to the HDMI delay making some games unplayable and I would avoid. He has recently brought out a bigger one which is supposed to be better but for the money, you could buy an original machine with an SD card reader and play every game. Or just look for the Vice emulator. Or even a browser emulator like this

Did any computer rooms in schools only have one computer in the 80s? 70s maybe but we had 3 Pets along with our couple of BBCs.

Very late 70s perhaps but most of the 70s were very much computer free. I remember that for my economics A level we had to run the economy for a country We adjusted our interest rates, taxes, public spending and put it through a computer. We had to troop down to the university to run our calculations and see how we did (I remember bankrupting my country when added something that should have multiplied - or vice versa). That was in 1976 and the idea that we would have our own computers for doing this was fanciful.

For maths, it was the slide rule or log tables - calculators were just coming in but we weren't allowed to use them

Saw one on Isle of Wight about 6 years ago :) Managed to keep the greys off the island I believe

Might have been covered, haven’t looked through the thread, but there weren’t many red squirrels in the 80s

Grey squirrels are apparently now being bossed by black squirrels, I have only ever seen one and that was in rural France

I was thinking that. Red squirrels were long gone in these parts back then. Didn't reduce membership of the Tufty Club though.

Still good that no idiot has introduced the greys to IOW.
