It dawned on me that I've never been to any royal appearances and thus never seen any of them, including the Queen!
The misses wants to go to the funeral..

Nope….my ex father in law did, when he went to collect his MBE …nice day out

Best tell her that she probably won’t get an invite

She opened my new office building a few years ago, so I was briefly a few feet from her.

My wife has been to a garden party.

I was part of the staff at Commander in Chief Fleet’s official house as a chef and cooked dinner for her.
She was a fussy eater.
We never met though.

I was also part of a Guard of Honour for her in Hull during her Silver Jubilee tour when I was on HMS Yarmouth.

She was quite short.
We didn’t speak.

Due to current and previous jobs I've met most of the royals except King Charles 3rd and Andrew. I met and served alongside both Harry and William in Afghanistan.

I met Queen Elizabeth 2nd twice during her reign and the second time she told me she remembered me from the first time. Because of this i sometimes tell the story (tongue in cheek) that i know (knew😣) the queen and if i bumped into her again i was sure she would remember me.

Not the Queen ... but a number of years ago I attended a Royal Performance of Mama Mia at the Prince of Wales Theatre. We were all sat in our seats and then on a screen we saw a car arrive outside with Prince Charles and Camila (this was way before they married). We stood when they came in and sang the National Anthem. Prince Charles and Camilla sat in the front row of the Royal Circle with Benny and Bjorn ... we were sat a few rows behind them.

Closest I've come to Royalty ... although I did have a 'private' tour (about 20 of us) one evening around Buck Palace. Didn't bump into anyone though!

I saw her at the Windsor Horse Show in May, I thought at the time that I wouldn’t see her again. I also saw her at the 1994 D-day commemoration in Portsmouth and really close up at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. Possibly at a distance at some cup finals too (Euro 96?).

I did also chat to and shake hands with our new King a few years ago when he was opening a theatre in Stratford.

Saw her pass in the golden state coach down Fleet Street at the 2002 jubilee. Saw the royal train that she was on once, but not her.

When did William serve in Afghan?
