I cheered him at Ashton Gate and booed him yesterday because
I thought that was the 'banter'. An irony which I'm sure he would
see the funny side of.

I certainly liked the bloke, so the booing wasn't malicious.

A sort of friendly 'boo' if you like.

He is a money grabber which is why he went to brentford instead of signing for us. I don't rate him either so I am glad we did not get him

Wasn't it reported that he rejected an offer of £500 a week. Hardly makes him a money grabber me thinks.

i booed him. He only played for us for a month! He certainly isnt a brighton legend and id like to remind everyone that he plays for BRISTOL, not us. Im glad we didnt sing that stupid la la la rougier song, that really pissed me off at Bristol, we should be singing about our own players!

Yes, and hailed him a Brighton reject from the front row. All good banter and like to think it made a difference. :)
Nice one.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I booed him throughout.
I don't think he was a reject or a legend but at the end of the day he was playing for city and that made him a target for banter from the crowd. Anything to put them off their stride.
What did you expect us to do cheer for him for christs sake. Remember whose side he was on?
For those 90 minutes I'm afraid he was the enemy.
:salute:

No doubt some of you lot were all for Booing Peter Ward when he played for Forest against us at the Goldstone is 1982.

What will you do when Mickey Adams comes down with Leicester next season?

I suspect most of the boo-ers were suffering from penis envy as Tony has a 12 inch chopper, though he does not use it as a rule

At both Ashton Gate and Cardiff, the way Rougier played posed a potentially serious threat to the Albion.

It's a measure of the improvement that there's been in our defence that, in neither game, did he break through and deliver.

Earlier in the season, I don't think we would have coped with him.

I also think the "La La La Rougier" chant at Ashton Gate was mainly directed at Bristol City fans who seem to have a crap Rougier song of their own - nowhere near as good as the one they should be singing. From where I was standing (or sitting) yesterday, there wasn't much point. It would have been lost on them.

Spot on, womblin' wise words as usual, your Lordship.

Only thing I didn't like about Rouge was the way he made it sound like he loved The Albion sooooooooo much and that he didn't want to play for anyone else.......usual fottballer (tell 'em what they want to hear ) bollocks.

Only in banter - Our whole season was riding on that game. Would he have expected any diff, he is a pro and he prob knew it was gonna happen!

I was pleased we didn't sign him as I thought he was a lumbering, talentless ox who occasionally got lucky. But I didn't boo him either, I certainly don't put him in the 'Alan Smith' category.

I think thats strange logic to say the least!
I don't think you can put Rougier in the same class as either of those two since he only played a few loan games for us.
As for booing a legend, Peter Ward is a bit before my time but if Zamora had been playing for City then no, I probably wouldn't have booed him but I certainly wouldn't have been cheering for him during the match either.
Rougier was fair game I reckon. We'll never know if it made a difference but I'd like to think so.:clap2:

i totally agree i like him and would rather he was still wearing the stripes

i booed him but it was more a worried nervous boo cos i knew he could be a big danger to us

I refer the honourable gentleman to my previous answer:

Oh for f***'s sake, it's not like it was Bobby Zamora, Micky Adams or anyone else that really stamped their name on Albion history. He came in, scored a few goals but ultimately didn't help keep us up and made it clear he didn't want to play in Division 2 (before heading to, err, Brentford).

I'm sure he didn't give a shit about being booed yesterday and took it in the manner in which it was intended (BANTER).

Sometimes Brighton fans are just too f***ing NICE.

He was offered £500 per week, with a package mainly linked to success (ie bonuses).

Nobody can blame him for taking a better offer.

I booed, but only to put him off! All very much part of the banter.

I didnt boo him but was delighted when they kept him on for the entire 90 minutes as he was probably the worst player on the pitch, first half he had a glorious chance to play in a teammate but didnt and his control and passing were an absolute joke!

He wanted us to win really!

Didn't he score against us at Brentford?

Didn't boo him yesterday and was shocked that people did. Perhaps he was shocked, too, and that's what made him play so badly.

Actually, I didn't think he was that bad on Sunday, just that he was well shackled by super Dan.

Didn't boo him. I actually thought the noise was so loud it was people shouting 'Rooooouge' rather than 'Boo'. So naive I am
