Did we lose on purpose

You can always tell how bothered GUs is by his touchline antics. Today he sat on the bench for 90 mins and did not even talk to Tanno. Let us remember that when we won the league we lost 0-2 to Northampton town!

Last time we lost to a lower league team we went on to walk the league. Maybe he thinks the cup runs we went on ultimately hurt our playoff chances last season.

It did seem in the second half we didnt try a thing, bridge and Bruno bombed forwards a lot in the first half and did little in the second.

Would agree with that apart from on Bruno. Thought he tried just as hard second half to make things happen. Calde as well when he came on.

All will be well on Saturday when CMS, who won't be match fit, is expected to be back. And if he's not back, we'll still have Barnes to do the necessary.

All I know is when we VIOLATED League One we were utter cack in the cups. Would be much more concerned if we saw that performance on Saturday. All I read from this is that Gus is going for it in the league.

Of course we were "utter cack" in the League Cup and JPT, didnt do too badly in the FA Cup (well, needed replays for Woking and FC United but still went through) though.

Bit unfair on the fans who travelled though to basically admit you didnt try.

I thought he did seem pretty calm about it, I expected he would be quite annoyed but that never came through, not sure if that was his putting on a brave face though. Nobody likes to loose, especially as this was billed as a Di Canio Vs Poyet contest.

But as someone else has said, our play off chances only increase with the distraction of the cup and the extra fixtures taken out of the equation.

One poor match and a bad result does not make us crap.

We were a quality side before the match, and a quality side we remain, despite a poor performance tonight.

Agreed. But worryingly we still look short of a few decent players and the season starts on Saturday. We have left it very late to finalise our side.

Just thought, if we lost so we can have a better run in the league, Palarse beat Exeter, so if the same principle applies - they will have a shit season !!

Good times !!

True, but that would be true even if we had won 3 - 0 today.

I take your point but the fact is we lost 3-0 to a newly promoted League 1 side, which rather heightens my anxiety about the lack of signings.

The team and manager should be ' up for it ' in whatever match they play that is what they are paid for and they have a duty to the supporters who travelled.

Gus was not bothered, he showed no emotion whatsoever tonight.

No Di Canio did that for him.

If that's what he's like in the first round of the League Cup what's he going to be like this season?
Really strange behaviour all night, He's barking

Thing is, for me, it wasn't a lack of quality that did it today. We beat Newcastle last season in a competitive match with a weaker squad than we have today.

My feeling is that we have high quality players who like to play nice football and we have a very very nice ground. Unfortunately sometimes that means when you go to a pretty small lower league ground, and especially when the other team want to get physical and really want to beat you, it can be hard to get comfortable and settled in a rhythm. So much of winning football matches is about being up for it, they had nothing to lose and we had nothing to gain.

I think Paulo went ape shit at half time and shoved a cattle prod up some arses, I think gus didn't do the same, nor did he really need to.

It's just one of those things, happens a lot in football. It was very unpleasant to watch but it's no disaster.

We do need a couple of additions though if we want league success this season, no doubt about that.

listening to his interview on SS1 he seems to be pleased to be out of the Cup !

Gus has actually said that on record before, and let's be honest it probably did have an effect on us no making the playoffs.

Gus has also said on record before the season started that cups were no important this season, this totally showed tonight. We will be 'spectacoooler' in the league this season and I am excited.

Chill out let Swindon have their day, Gus clearly didn't give a shit in the interview so if he doesn't I don't.
Night.
And this.

It was written that Narvarro would score, how many times has a club shed a player and the next match he scores against you...he scored 1 goal in 83 games for us but scores 2 in match against us...I'm not worried about the new season,Gus I trust and I'm sure we will have the striker in soon.

I'd say needing replays v Woking and FCUM contributes to "utter cack".

Gus was ALL SMILES at full time tonight. I'm not gonna pretend I'm delighted at the performance but am I concerned about the rest of the season based on that? Am I BUGGERY.

Did we lose on purpose? Yes.

Cheers, Gus. I suppose I shouldn't be suprised, games around my birthday are always dire. Tonight is the cherry on top of the cake of pure shit. Micky Adams served up the Bristol Rovers shocker for my 21st and now this judt before my 25th. And yes I am aware Gus isn't to blame for that coincidance. But FFS, why Swindon? Anyone else, fine. I'll never hear the end of this one.
