That is quite simply a RIDICULOUS statement. Just because he is in a 'challenging role' does does not mean he is a brilliant actor.

He lacks the intensity or presence of a truly great screen actor. Not even the best actor on Eastenders.

I disagree.

The problem for soap actors is you rarely get a chance to improve while on the soap. Obviously there has to be a talent there but the most important thing is that they be reliable, know their lines and hit their marks. None of them get any direction or coaching. This is the reason that the long term actors never get any better. You need to get in and out of jobs like that.

On a more serious note about the Witney/Tony "relationship"..... what an awful looking, satchel faced, saggy titted mother-in law you would get if you went legal !

I don't really get what he's done to justify being labelled a brilliant actor.

He's playing a creepy paedo.

You could print a photo of ANYBODY with the caption 'Child Molestor' and instantly people would believe it.

It's all too easy to be believable when you're trying to portray somebody people find despicable.

The guy just needs to look at young Lauren over the Square and people are getting all righteous about how 'sick' he is, not because he's brought some real menace to the role, but because the script writers have made him out to be a paedo and if there's one thing the British public can't stand it's a man with desires on children. He doesn't even need to try to be believable.

The Woodsman is a decent performance by Kevin Bacon playing a paedo, an intelligent look at a taboo subject
