[Albion] Dicks bar question.

My mate, a season ticket holder since the goldstone, has been unable to go to any matches since the first game of the season due to being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. He is desperate to get down to the Amex for a visit so I told him I’d take him to Dicks bar for a pie, the problem is that he is very unsteady on his feet and has to walk with a stick. There’s no way he can manage the stairs, so I was hoping someone might know if there’s a lift that he’d be able to use?

Could you borrow a wheelchair to take your friend in? There is a lift and he will have a seat as well. As THPP said people do like to dash up there to save seats.

I'm guessing you mean on a non match day?

The club will bend over backwards to help. Just give Supporter Services a call. Why not arrange a stadium tour as well? They are very wheel chair friendly

It’ll have to be a non match day. I’ve tried ringing supporter services but couldn’t get an answer. The stadium tour would be a good idea but I can’t see him having the energy to do it. I took him to the pub last week, 200 yards from where I could park….. he was shattered when I took him home.

The stadium tour sounds like it might be a bit draining for your mate, but how about a visit to the Albion museum? It's a good few years since I got treated to a visit there by the club, but from what I recall it's on the same level as Dick's Bar and is easily accessible from there through a couple of doors. I'm sure somebody can confirm

Good point, however I’m sure the club would do a slimmed down version according to what you think your friend could manage. Why don’t you contact Supporter Services (keep trying) or AITC (or ?) explain the circumstances and see what they can do.

Yup, the same folk almost every game.... their jackets/coats get more chair time than we ever do.

Thanks for all your replies . I just spoke to my mate and he told me that he’d had a suprise today and that the club have come up trumps for him. He’s been given seats in the south stand disabled section for him and a carer on Saturday .Theyve also provided a car parking space in Bennett’s field. He knows he’ll be exhausted by the end of the day but he’s made up to be able to get to a game again…… the trip to Dicks is going to be in a few weeks now.

And that is why we support the best club in the country!
