I was thinking this morning and it occurred to me that someone who is revered on here, and was a young striker, scored 14 goals in his first full season for us (4 of which were penalties) in the Championship... Ashley has 12, it isnt the end of the season yet, and he is playing a withdrawn role where he isnt the main striker most of the time...

So - Zamora scored 14, Barnes has scored 12 with over 10 games left and gives the team a hell of a lot more than Zamora did defensively also...

Now, I am not saying that Barnes is better or even as good as Bobby was back then... but those stats do not lie, and I think gives a little perspective to the Anti Barnes Brigade...

Very good spin,,you could have added that Zamora was out for the first three or so months of the season and he scored them goals in a relegated side, nowhere near as good as today's side. But I do see where your coming from....Every time I give Barnes some clog, he goes and scores a goal or two. Think I should carry on, I don't mind him making me look stupid, if he keeps on scoring..Point is, you pay you money and everyone can have their say. What a very boring world we would live in if everyone thought the same thing. That said, I think "Fu#k off you cu#t" is a bit strong.

I am not always sure Barnes helps himself by looking so miserable when he plays - I recall one of the other players saying he was the team's chief moaner. But who cares - he is one of last year's squad who has adapted to a much tougher League when others have fallen by the wayside. Gus trusts him - Barnes knows how Gus wants to play and he fills a number of roles for the team. Clearly he is not a one trick pony. He looks physically stronger now and, therefore, much more able to cope the challenges of Championship football. At the rate he is going he will fall not far short of his goals total for last season - quite a achievement. So I am a Barnes fan and hope he goes from strength to strength.

I guess none of those anti-Barnes pricks were watching at the Withdean last 2 years. Fitted in straight away, and seen off several journeyman rivals.

Barnes has done bloody well, and come along way in his young career.

I thought he was out for a while and then I checked the stats - he played 36 games that season....

You ever seen Nani or Gary Neville smile? Doesn't matter.

and the players keep referring to Greer as the moaner.

A moanfest....Poster abusing the guy who is abusing the other guy who is abusing Barnes...wow...leave Barnes alone and encourage him...none of you could play better and Gus knows more about the way we play than anyone...have your opinions by all means but don't abuse our players verbally,it is not productive.....
