Navarro is a tidy player sitting in front of the back four breaking up play and laying decent passes out to our more forward players, he came from the Anfield acadamy and you cn tell in a way with his passing range.
He has also improved in the 5-4-1 formation
Dicker is one of those midfielders that it is difficult to place as he is not defensive or ultra-attacking either but I rate him as he wins lots of lost causes and has bundles of energy, he may struggle next season for a starting place though, especially if Poyet signs a flairniac palyer.

How can ANYONE answer Dicker? seriously, look at his stats, for a central midfielder they are very poor.

But you can't make a stat that takes into account dropping a shoulder and completely wrongfooting 3 opposing midfielders, can you?

A predictably pointless poll.

A question where there's an OBVIOUS favourite (i.e. the one who has spectacularly won over NSC with his recent form), and it just happens to be the person that the idiot starting the thread decided was his favourite player only last week, and has been getting himself off over it all week.

It proves nothing, they are both different players with different qualities. I'm pleased that people can now recognise Navarro's talents as opposed to slating him because he's not Dicker, and equally pleased that most people have realised that Dicker is perhaps not the Beckenbauer many were making out at the beginning of the season. But for god sake don't now start slating Dicker simply because he's not Navarro.

They are both decent enough players. Not amazing, not shit - somewhere in between.
Stupid polls like this aren't going to change that.

Nicely summed up. I agree if we stay 4-5-1 then Dicker will be the one that gets replaced for the simple fact that he doesn't create or score anywhere near enough goals.

What about try to pirouette with the ball and losing it vs Orient and Villa that both lead to us conceding goals? And if he was that good, as the creative central midfielder that he is supposed to be, why doesn't he have more assists?

I'm not having a go, because I actually like Dicker but I don't believe he deserves a lot of the praise he receives from people. Just my opinion like.

wasn't too sure about navarro at the start of the season. moving to 4-5-1 has given him the position that he is best in. dicker is a class player, but id have to say navarro is whose impressed me most recently. goes to show what he does for us when arismendi is given a run out, and he comes on for him at half time

 Withdean Wanker strikes again.

Clearly there is not an actual favourite is there? They are obviously different players and they obviously have different qualities, however in a 4-4-2 they would both be fighting for the same spot, therefore it is perfectly valid to have this follow on poll and to discuss their good and bad points.

He creates more than Crofts, while having played deeper for 70% of the season.

My point was that stats don't really flatter a player like Dicker, and don't explain what he brings to the team which is class and composure on the ball. He has more of that than Crofts or Navarro, he also creates more and again stats don't show which completed passes are key and which are not.

I really disagree with you I'm afraid. I think Crofts does a box to box job a lot better than Dicker. Granted he won't try any long range passing or anything fancy but I think he wins the ball and then starts an attacking move far more often and will continue forward in support.

Correct.

It seems on NSC that if someone likes one they can't like the other. Personally, I rate Dicker, Crofts AND Navarro.

It was like the Poyet vs Forster thing - everyone had to be either "Pro Gus/Anti Forster" or "Pro Forster/Anti Gus". What bollocks. It was just two adults having a disagreement. Otherwise known as "LIFE".

But you've not asked to discuss their good and bad points.

You've done a POLL, asking "who's the best recently'", instead of "who's the best". In recent months, people on here/in the argus/on SCR have all commented on how Navarro has improved fantastically. He's CLEARLY the favourite because you've included 'recent' in the title.

Basically tayloring the question towards the result that you think is 'right', purely for the gratification when Navarro (probably) wins, as you've suddenly decided Navarro is the best thing since sliced bread (4 games before the season finishes).

If you'd asked "who is the best", then there would be no favourite, as opinion on the players (as highlighted here) is definitely split. But you haven't, you've asked about recent form, knowing full well Navarro's performances at the beginning of the season were GASH, and Dicker's around christmas were excellent.

So yeah, it's pointless.

Over the entire season Dicker has been the better player. Still rate them both fairly highly, but Navarro was genuinely woeful early on in the season.

This.

Both are outstanding. But i think Dicker, although a dip in form, was playign as well as navarro is now, when he was on form, and is playing better during his dip, than navarro did.
