Dick Knight's Gotta Go

12 years ago, a man living upto his surname, a Knight in shining armour (see what I done there) rescued this club from oblivion. He united everyone, and put the Albion on the map.

Now the same man is unfortunately living up to his first name... DICK. Because that is what he has become. A total Dick, and whereas before when he United the club and fans, he is now tearing it apart.

Because of this mans ego, he sacked one of the games most promising young managers, and replaced him with a man who has done nothing in the game for years now. This is not me talking with hindsight, I said this would happen when he sacked Wilkins in the summer, and brought back the has been that is Micky Adams. The fact we are in the position we are in, is no surprise to me whatsoever.

I think people have got to drag themselves out of the past. Yes he saved the club, someone else probably would have if he hadn't, but lets be fair he has to take credit for that.

But that was a long time ago. What he has done in the past 10 months as been nothing short of scandalous, and if it wasn't for what he done in the past, Dick Knight would have been hounded out of this club a long time ago. He as removed a promising manager , in very a unpleasant way, a man who looked like pushing on this year and has put us in the position we are in now.

I think a lot of people on here have got to accept, this man is years past his sell by date, and one of his last actions at this club is to get us relegated to the basement division for only the third time in our history.

Make no mistake, we are going down. We can all pretend its not going to happen, and the squads to good, but the results speak for themselves.

Thanks for the memories Dick.:ascarf:

Rubbish. I agree that there is a good chance we will go down now but if we get the right manager in, and soon, we could be comfortable by the end of the season - we have a good squad and the table is still tight.

Your talking nonsense, DK has always said if someone comes in with the cash he will listen...don't know if you have noticed but there doesn't seem to be much new wonga around!!

He has doen and does a good job, we all make mistakes and Micky was one...but let's move on together.

SO wheres the wonga come from to make us the only leaguie 1 club to spend money in January? There's plenty of money floating around the club, don't worry about that!

This is one of the most pathetic threads I've read for a while. I really hope it is a wind up. As Gilliver's Travels mentioned, if he is so great why hasn't anyone else got him in as manager?

He was a great coach, but shit at man-management and for that reason, he had to go. The club was accused of being too sentimental in the re-signing of Mayo/Hart, but then criticised for being too harsh on Wilkins.

And Wilkins' sacking seems to be your only reason for wanting Knight out, unbelievable.

Agree with much of the original post, but mainly this para.

Dick was great in the beginning, and continued to be so for a few years, but in the last couple he has definitely lost it. Sadly I can't help but compare him to Maggie T. She was desperately needed when she took over. She did a great job for many many years sorting out problem after problem, but sadly she clung on well past her best and as a result is now remembered for the wrong reasons as much as what she did well. Dick deserves to be remembered for the man who saved the club, and HELPED us get Falmer. However he is out of touch with reality now and for his own good should step back.

Chris Cattlin was an excellent manager, but never managed again. Why? Because he was a one club man and devastated by leaving the Albion. Wilkins is the same. I suspect it will take him some while to recover from this.

We will have paid him off when we sacked him. We are no longer paying him.

I think that is right. A compromise agreement will have been made though, and it is not entirely impossible that within this agreement Wilkins agreed not to manage anyone for the period of the remaining contract but got paid in full. He may have been paid much more as a result. I suspect it was feared he might take some of the youngsters coming through with him so the club wanted a period of time to make sure this didn't happen quickly.

You recruit a very competent Chief Exec in the same mould as Martin Perry. Anyone can be Chairman if you have a competent Chief Exec fronting up for the club on behalf of the shareholders and directors.

And add someone to the payroll, not really what we need at present.

I suggest that no clubs are willing to employ him as a manager because it's no much of a risk as someone who is known to have upset a lot of players.

Is it true that someone said recently he was sacked because 2 new signings didn't like his managing style and didn't want to play for him?
