Dick Knight

On the first point, as you admit, you are making an assumption (which may or may not be true). In terms of what Knight brought to the role of Albion Chairman, he was a brilliant figurehead and marketing man, which makes sense, given his background. He cajoled from various benefactors (Bloom crucial amongst them) critical investment to the club, and he used his advertising industry nous to steer a clever and inventive Falmer campaign. Whether he was actually good at RUNNING the football club, I have no knowledge. Whether his skills transfer well, to make him good in his role at AITC, again, I don't know.

What I do know is that any decsion taken by Bloom (if this is true) to remove him from his role, will have been taken in his belief, in the best interest of the Albion and AITC, and not, as you are suggesting, to demonstrate that he is king, in some pointless 'power struggle'. There is no struggle.

I would be happier if the new manager of AITC wasn't from Amex. Was the post widely advertised when the other two left or was it handed to him?

I've no idea. Why is the guy's previous employer important to you though?

It seems very convenient. I think it's right to ask questions instead of having blind faith in the board.

Edit to add Your question about whether DK was any good at running a football club, if success is the key, then 4 trophies at Withdean appears to be very good.
Ok, the 4th trophy was won when TB took over, but we still did well considering our major handicaps there.

Firstly, I have no idea whatsoever, whether Dick Knight is brilliant in his role at the AITC or utterly dreadful. I suspect you don't either. What we all do know, is that Dick Knight fully deserves his legendary status for what he did for the club, at its lowest ebb, and should always be treated with the utmost respect.

I cannot accept the concept of a 'power struggle' between Knight and Bloom, though. Bloom is already all-powerful. He doesn't need to flex his muscles.
well said now lets look to the future!

He was asked to take it on, as a very senior leader from Amex who could run AITC as it should be - efficiently, ensuring that the money that they do have does the best possible good for the people it is meant for in our community! Pretty simple. Charities are not run as noddy organisations who have fundraising tombolla's and a jam sale once a year anymore. Many of the larger organisations (Oxfam, BHF etc) have very well paid Chief Executives who have come from blue chip organisations and are run as businesses.

With the greatest respect in the world for everything he has done for the club, surely Dick must be well past retirement age anyway?

I helped Oxfam at one point until I realised that 90% of what they make goes to employees and the remaining 10% goes where it is needed. I now subscribe to charities where the money gets to the grass roots that need help.

I'm referring to the pr fiasco over the disciplinaries. If anybody doubts this, they should read the summary provided in yesterdays Argus by Midnight. communications who are leading pr people (and no, I don't have a connection with them).

I was astonished by the biased anti Bloom Argus centre pages and Midnight Communications' blinkered article. What sumed it up for me was the Argus' reference to the Club Shop in Queens Street!

just wondering, does anyone have any positive experiences with AITC? I was under the impression that they were doing loads of top work in the area, but I've read plenty of tales on here to suggest otherwise

not having a dig as i've had no experiences with them, just wondering

A different point of view is blinkered? It''s a different point of view.

It isn't biased or blinkered. Its what a professional in pr and comms really believes about what has happened in the last few weeks. My wife works in that industry, she is Albion through and through, and she hasn't been impressed with recent comms and releases. So many of her peers and contacts based in brighton feel the same. A CEO of a rival firm in Brighton actually said they thought Caraline Brown of midnight comms was being soft on the club with some of the criticism.
