Straight in with the name calling. He has his job to lose.
I think you called me daft first matey and i complimented you anyway.

Wasn't Slade under a contract until the end of the season with the position he was left in there was never going to be any mud slung at him or his managerial reputation so that makes a no lose situation to me.

That's what I'd figured. MAYBE Blooms stick DK upstairs in some role, then spunk cash on new players and a new manager in push for promotion. or DK stay in control and we sign up RS and keep the finances on an even keel whilst putting in some investment.

I'm sure we'll just have to wait and see.

Heard this a fair while ago and also that Slade wasn't at the time the man for the job next season....depends which way the game goes now Bloom is the man with the money if he walks we are basically up shit creek without both a boat and a paddle because uncle Dick hasn't got a pot to pee in and Falmer would then be in some jeorpady....as fans i think we need to keep both sweet :albion2:

I think Slade should get the job but i worry that he won't - the silence from the board is very deafening - perhaps there are problems in the boardroom that need to be sorted before the managers job ??

I heard from a very reliable source inside my head that Dick Knight (Liar!) was going to offer Dennis Wise the job, but that Wise failed to turn up after he couldn't get a taxi to drive him to Donatello's.

Let's try a slightly different version of this ...

1. Bloom might want to put more money into the playing side, but he doesn't have confidence in a "lower league manager" to get the best out of the higher quality players that he will have to work with. It's one thing to motivate the Wilkins babes to save themselves from relegation. It's quite another thing to lead a squad that will survive in the Championship once we get there.

2. Dick Knight wants to keep the fans happy by hanging on to Russell Slade. He also knows that there's still a hell of a lot of difficult work to be done to bring the Falmer project to fruition and has no confidence in Bloom to lead the Club through all that.

1. Any manager called a "lower league manager" would have to take exception with being labelled as such, especially when he has just pulled an unlikely rabbit from the hat. It doesn't allow for ambition to indelibly tag a fellow with such a title! The board still have the purse-strings, coaches and scouts to make decisions on who will come into the club on the manager's request.

2. Knight is a fan too - he cannot have overlooked the actual reasons why the fans are happy! Slade is now a known quantity, and rather a positive one at that. DK is not daft enough to risk losing this fellow - with the job of then drafting in another man who he won't know and can't underline with a better reference than the one he can personally give Slade.

3. DK is lucky - he has PA's who he doesn't have to pay ANY wages to!
Since I am one of these unpaid assistants, I can re-iterate my opinion that he ought to hire Mr Slade.
