Everyone is moaning on here saying that he probably gave Coppell a contract that allowed him to talk to other clubs, and it was a stupid move. Actually it wasn't a stupid move. We needed a manager desperatly and if it came down to this or nothing, then Knight chose the right choice!

Spot on Mr. Italia... I happen to agree with the sentiments expressed on this board but I`m open minded enough to realise that there are plenty out there who dont. Usually they are dismissed as being disloyal. We have NO money and DK loves the club. Why we should chuck him out because of a manger leaving off his own decision is beyone me!

Just a bit worried about his visits to Withdean and a rather flattering arse licking article in the programme last week.

Dick Knight has done brilliantly in bringing a succession of top managers to the club even though the training facilities are crap, we have no money to speak of, and we play football in an athletics stadium.

Any manager these days has clauses in their contract to leave for another club if they want, the same as the club has the right to sack them at any time they choose. Such is the world of modern football!

Even clubs like Reading that have money, a stadium, and top training facilities, have their managers quit for another club!

It is hard for any lower league club who are top of the table to hold onto its manager. I've no doubt that Port Vale, Swindon, QPR, etc fans will be going through the same thing this season as more first division and premier clubs change managers.

You can't blame Dick Knight for this. We can only support him in his efforts to bring us Falmer, and if needed I'm sure he will find us another top manager (but I hope Coppell stays!).
