I've always thought she was a bit odd and very dogmatic but I think she's got a point.

She is saying that there is a difference between racism and prejudice and I understand that. I think we are all prejudiced in some way; it's a fear of the unknown, a fear of difference. Thats what Prince Harry has been trying to articulate.

There is a lot of prejudice on this site but those who spout prejudice are not necessarily racist.

On a purely technical basis, she could have argued that "racism" and "antisemitism" are similar but different evil ideologies.

Race is a social construct (not a biological one) that has been historically used to "downgrade" people of different skin colour. It's completely illogical.

Antisemitism based on faith probably has a longer history, but is equally illogical. Both have enslaved and killed millions.

Although personally, I can't see the point because it just boils down to semantics,

She downgraded the experience of Jewish people based on seats on buses in pre-civil rights America completely forgetting to acknowledge the Holocaust.

Many defending her have said she was talking about the modern world, She wasn't, she was using historic examples.

Abbott is just another example on the left with a blind spot regarding Antisemitism. They appear to view it as a "lesser form of racism" because of the colour of the target's skin.

However I feel terribly sorry for her. There has never been an MP (and probably another UK Black public figure) that has been racially abused both in print and social media. She has been under attack for years in ways that most on here who choose to criticise her clearly don't understand. That alone will have an effect on her rationale thinking at times. She probably needs to get out of national politics.

The reason she has been a figure much criticised, nay scorned, over the years, is that the general public realised that she was unintelligent and bigotted. She plays the black/white card constantly, fanning the flames of a narrow debate, that now completely overshadows the wider picture.
Like so many others, with a particular agenda, this complex and historic issue of antagonism between different races is basically defined as racism or racist. They rarely use the term ' racialism ' or ' racial prejudice or ' colour prejudice ' Narrowed down and simplified to suit purpose.
The insistence that the only race of people that have really suffered are those with black skins is misguided at best and very stupid at worst. The abuse and suffering that the Indian/Pakistan community have had to endure from the 1970's onwards is totally unacceptable. Those of us old enough to remember ' Paki ' bashing, still shudder at what went on. Shops targetted. Burnt down. Destroyed. The ghastly term ' Paki shop ' still exists. The Sikh community are referred to as ' ragheads ' Derogatory and degrading. Far more antagonism to these people than to black skinned people who came here a couple of decades before, who were generally accepted and welcomed into society.
Anti semitism exists everywhere. No group of people have been persecuted more in history. History is littered with persecution, bigottry, racism, racialism, racial prejudice and colour prejudice but idiots like Diane Abbott believe that it is the prepotent case that black people suffer far more than anyone else. She is not fit for purpose.

She could still achieve a lot in life. Advocating and campaigning against the racism experienced by black people is incredibly important. There are probably many roles she could take up outside politics and continue the good work she has done in this area.

Because successful politics requires you to represent more than just one group of people, she has surely got to resign and move on.
